The big difference between the atheist and Christian would be that the atheist has no logical reason to be moral. Perversion is not a logical outgrowth of the teachings of the Bible or Jesus Christ. To what larger authority does and atheist subscribe? An atheist has no fixed moral set point, therefore no logical reason to honor any moral code over another. ‘Most’ as an exact number is not very specific.
@iw63boomer I agree with what you are saying but religion pushes morality strictly for the sake of a reward or out of fear of eternal torment where as when an atheist follows a moral code it is simply because they choose to do so because they feel it's right. The morality is an outgrowth of that relationship. Please understand, hell is a place for folks who don’t want a relationship with God, choose to ignore God, or despise God. The ‘reward’ as you call it, is an eternity with the object of love, the author of love and the lover of our souls.
Here's the thing, I am not speaking about religion as it should be, I am referring to what many churches have become, and that is a place where they manipulate the fear in which hell creates to scare people away from committing "sins" . This is what turned me away from religion. It has become a situation in most churches where it's either you do what the bible says or you burn. Here is the point, as I understand it: The relationship transforms me and I become more like Christ. Without that, and assuming a ‘works’ mentality, then there is no real transformation and folks earn their own way into heaven. Then, heaven is just like this place here, filled with people who rely on their own understanding to guide their own lives.

@GammahooX Smith received such a harsh sentence because he let some mouthy lawyer convince him to reject a plea bargain and go to trial. If he had taken it he'd be getting out of prison no later than next year.
As for most of these guys getting away with it, in the Fortson sting, 20 pervs showed up at the house and 20 went to prison, although all but six are now out.
