Thank you very much for this video. Two questions: Has the double note issue been fixed? I'm using a PS3 ION. Also, I have no issues running videos outside of DTXMania(I have CCCP installed, so I know it isn't a codec problem), but for the life of me the AVIs that come with songs just aren't playing in DTXMania, the option isn't turned off either. Any ideas why they aren't playing in DTXMania?
Thanks again for the very helpful video; it was because of it that I bought the ION Drum Rocker.
@creamsodaboy The double note issue has not been fixed to my knowledge. For the videos, the issue seems to always by fixed by downloading the divx codec from the divx site. I know it seems redundant, but it can't hurt to try.
I just want to say THANK YOU! I was almost going to jump off a bridge trying to get DTXMania to work with my ION. I was on site after site and finally found this and it worked the first time.
You're awesome! Thanks for doing this video and for taking questions. Do you know what program I can use to open the PIE file? My Windows XP doesn't want to do it automatically. (I'm trying to open IonforDTX_PS3.PIE)
@Dagnycity Ah, you need to install Glovepie. I think I included it in the link on my site. You open the file in Glovepie, then hit the Run button. Then open up Notepad and hit your drums and cymbals and they should all type different letters. If you have a hard time with DTXMania recognizing the pads correctly, backup and delete your config.ini file. You will need to configure your bass pedal as a regular button in DTXM, not a keyboard key, as far as I recall.
@ninjadrummer20 You totally can. Just use the linked version of Glovepie and the PS3 pie file that's in the video description. I checked the download link and it's still good.
Bilkwando, I have read a lot of your post both on here and the rockband forum. I am interested to know if I can get a PS3 Ion drum rocker to work with programs like FL Studio. I've been told to download, Loopbe1 and Xbox360 Ion to midi programs, which I have all done, but cannot get it to work. Do you have any suggestions?
i am trying to use the ion drums with a program called drum site... how much different will the script in glove pie need to be in order for this to work or will it even do the trick?
Nice video, it mostly worked well for me. I am using a 360 ion with the rocker pedal and I am having a problem with mapping the pedal. My control scheme has the ride cymbal as the confirm button. I assume that when you get to the config screen and then bass pedal you have to hit the confirm button and then hit the pad you want to map to bass. Well when I do this the ride cymbal double hits and then maps itself to bass. I have tried tapping it very lightly and very hard but both work the same.
@Billkwando I am trying to map it like a normal button. The problem is that the game won't let me. I go to bass pedal under config. When I press the pedal itself, nothing happens. Therefore I assume you must first press confirm to tell the game you are mapping a button. When I do this the ride gets hit twice (as you mentioned it might in your video).. Because of this the only thing I can map to the bass pedal is the ride. Sorry if this is confusing, it's kinda hard to explain.
@Billkwando Hey, I figured it out. I just need to map it using the keyboard rather than the drum kit. Thanks for the help and the fast reply. Again, great video, works perfectly.
when my ions are plugged-in, glovpie is running, and i open DTXmania, it doesnt see my button pushes but if i select in a text box, i can type with my drum... basicaly, DTXmania isnt taking the commands from glovepie... any help???
Now that you mention it, I've heard a few complaints about 64 lately. Doesw the controller not show up in Game Controllers in control panel?
If it does, and DTXMania won't acknowledge it, my suggestion would be to use Joy2Key to configure the drumpads as keyboard keys (assuming J2K works on x64)
Actually my advice would only work on 4 pad sets. Let me do some more research. I need somebody to check what buttons do what. If it's a simple mixed up button issue, maybe I can fix.
Ok, so I've downloaded the program glovepie and I'm using a PS2 Rock band 1 controller. My computer has read it and each pad will register. When I open a glovepie file, do I still use IonforDTX?
Make a folder called DTXFiles and put your song folders in there. You can get songs by clicking on the descriptions of my videos, or go to GDAMania to the Sharing forum.
You can name the folders like "DTXFiles.New" or "DTXFiles.J-Pop" and that will give you folders named "New" and "J-Pop" in DTXMania
when i press the icon that says DTXManiaGR it say "The application failed to initialize property (0xc0000134). Click in OK to terminate the application." So it doesnt work...
You just go into config and select which drum you want to map to which pad, then hit the pad when it asks you to. They keyboard mappings are fine. They're supposed to be there too.
Make sure you set your CY cymbal to auto & set FT to FT1.
That's my fault....I forgot to mention you have go into config and set the bass drum only. Just go to "Bass" and select an empty slot, then kick it & it should recognize the button. I need to add that to the video.
yea it does it shows up as harmonix drum device or something to that effect. it triggers buttons in the properties box too but i think the button layout may be different than the xbox one
I;m not sure if it works or not. You can give it a try, or you can post in the GDAMania thread I linked in the description. The author of the script will be able to answer your questions, and hopefully iron out any issues with the PS drums.
im on 32 bit and it shows up as a controller, but the buttons dont work still on the program. i sort of got it to work with joy to key, by some crazy hack, but it doesnt work very well on fast parts or parts that are complicated.
Nope, not at all. Hooking your controller up to your computer won't change or harm it in any way. That's why Microsoft puts out the 360 controller driver, so you can use them on your PC.
One has nothing to do with the other. You close glovepie when you're done, and plug your drums into your 360. When you're ready to play again, you can open glovepie again.
