  • Thank you very much for this video. Two questions: Has the double note issue been fixed? I'm using a PS3 ION. Also, I have no issues running videos outside of DTXMania(I have CCCP installed, so I know it isn't a codec problem), but for the life of me the AVIs that come with songs just aren't playing in DTXMania, the option isn't turned off either. Any ideas why they aren't playing in DTXMania?

Thanks again for the very helpful video; it was because of it that I bought the ION Drum Rocker.

  • @creamsodaboy The double note issue has not been fixed to my knowledge. For the videos, the issue seems to always by fixed by downloading the divx codec from the divx site. I know it seems redundant, but it can't hurt to try.

  • thank you so much!

    it works like a charm!!

  • Does this also work with a Guitar Hero PS3 Drumkit?

  • Thank you! Your a genius!

  • I just want to say THANK YOU! I was almost going to jump off a bridge trying to get DTXMania to work with my ION. I was on site after site and finally found this and it worked the first time.

  • You're awesome! Thanks for doing this video and for taking questions. Do you know what program I can use to open the PIE file? My Windows XP doesn't want to do it automatically. (I'm trying to open IonforDTX_PS3.PIE)

  • @Dagnycity Ah, you need to install Glovepie. I think I included it in the link on my site. You open the file in Glovepie, then hit the Run button. Then open up Notepad and hit your drums and cymbals and they should all type different letters. If you have a hard time with DTXMania recognizing the pads correctly, backup and delete your config.ini file. You will need to configure your bass pedal as a regular button in DTXM, not a keyboard key, as far as I recall.

  • @Billkwando That was fast! Thank you. Sorry. I didn't watch the video closely enough.

  • @Dagnycity Is it working now? Do the pads register in Notepad? Were you able to go through and map the keys?

  • do you know if I can use the ps3 mad catz pro rock band 3 drums for this??

  • @ninjadrummer20 You totally can. Just use the linked version of Glovepie and the PS3 pie file that's in the video description. I checked the download link and it's still good.

  • dear god, upgrade your OS

  • Bilkwando, I have read a lot of your post both on here and the rockband forum. I am interested to know if I can get a PS3 Ion drum rocker to work with programs like FL Studio. I've been told to download, Loopbe1 and Xbox360 Ion to midi programs, which I have all done, but cannot get it to work. Do you have any suggestions?

  • @Nieci09 sounds like you need midiox too.

  • @Billkwando I checked out the site for midiox. Do you know if the Beta version of Midiox 7.02 works for vista?

  • @Nieci09 alas, I'm an XP guy, so I wouldn't know, but I'd assume midiox would run on a DOS toaster. ;)

  • Moby Dick! Must download now.

  • @1990rms Oh yes. You Must. :p

  • umm, can you tell me how to connet DTXMania to my electronic drum?

  • I used RB2 Drums for the PS3 and it Works PERFECTLY :D. You just need to config them.

  • @UltimateAoe2 Glad it worked out! :)

  • i am trying to use the ion drums with a program called drum site... how much different will the script in glove pie need to be in order for this to work or will it even do the trick?

  • hey, in drums keys there are two hi-hat (close and open). How can I configure this two hi-hats both for yellow?

  • @eduardom666 I believe that's HH3 in the DTXMania options. I think I explain it on my RB page that should be kinked in the description.

  • "Some people set the bass drum to auto, but that's only if you're lame."

  • Hey just to make sure I understand right the cymbals and hi hat will register as different buttons from the blue and yellow toms right?

  • @ronspeck yes indeed

  • @Billkwando Now my friend, that is bad ass.

  • this sohtware match rb2 drums with cymbals?

  • @howard21009 It should. :)

  • sorry im really new to this game and want to know how you actually plugged in the drums to your computer?

  • @punkrockerx4xlife With the USB cable attached to the drums, silly. :p

  • @Billkwando of course XD

  • Nice video, it mostly worked well for me. I am using a 360 ion with the rocker pedal and I am having a problem with mapping the pedal. My control scheme has the ride cymbal as the confirm button. I assume that when you get to the config screen and then bass pedal you have to hit the confirm button and then hit the pad you want to map to bass. Well when I do this the ride cymbal double hits and then maps itself to bass. I have tried tapping it very lightly and very hard but both work the same.

  • @albel1333 I think you have to map the bass pedal like a regular button, through DTXM. The glovepie app doesn't pick it up. Is that what you mean?

  • @Billkwando I am trying to map it like a normal button. The problem is that the game won't let me. I go to bass pedal under config. When I press the pedal itself, nothing happens. Therefore I assume you must first press confirm to tell the game you are mapping a button. When I do this the ride gets hit twice (as you mentioned it might in your video).. Because of this the only thing I can map to the bass pedal is the ride. Sorry if this is confusing, it's kinda hard to explain.

  • @Billkwando Hey, I figured it out. I just need to map it using the keyboard rather than the drum kit. Thanks for the help and the fast reply. Again, great video, works perfectly.

  • do guitar hero drum kits work? just wondering ^^

  • @GungraveAyumu Yeah they do :)

  • THX

    Works fine with PS3 Rockband 2 Drums+ 3 Cymbals

  • How do I get my 360 ION kit to be recognized by my PC? I have it plugged into my USB, are there any drivers I need to download and install?

It doesn't show up under game controllers.

  • did rockband2 kits worked?

  • they do , i just used one

  • I get a very annoying delay when hitting the pads. Is there a way to fix that?

  • on that '' Xbox 360 ION drum rocker to PC MIDI Cable'' program, it says 0 buttons in the input.

also DTX just crashed for me so i cant use that

  • when my ions are plugged-in, glovpie is running, and i open DTXmania, it doesnt see my button pushes but if i select in a text box, i can type with my drum... basicaly, DTXmania isnt taking the commands from glovepie... any help???

  • You may want to try mapping each pad manually. Maybe you got a used copy and somebody else set up the inputs strange?

  • Hey what was that freestyle song thing you had an were did you download it?

  • Oh hey, I made that. My mediafire got wiped out or I'd give you the link. I'll upload it soon and reply back and tell you where to get it. :)

  • Ok thanks!

  • Hey go to GDAMania and do a search for "freestyle". I attached it to one of my posts for you. :)

  • Ok thank you

  • I can't find it :(

  • I would really really like to have a freestyle mode :(

  • if u make a really long custom song with no notes, then u can play all you want

  • i cant download dtxmania

  • Go to GDAMania. There are links there to download 67b.

  • Doesnt work. :(

''The file you requested was removed for violating MediaFire's Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy''

  • Seriously, wtf....

  • re-refixed

  • The Downloadlink is down, please reupload!

  • Fixed :)

    Finally....lol.

  • Try again, again. Sorry....

Ironically, this software is all homebrew. There's nothing copyrighted in here, yet they keep taking it down.

  • I'm currently downloading a 3.7gb DTXmania torrent.

    Doesn't that sound about right?

How do I connect my ION kit to my computer?

Can I just connect using the USB?

  • You can connect it but you do need additional software for cymbals to work. Go to GDAMania, and visit the controllers forum

  • Thanks. I just have the two cymbals so Ill have to to do the CY1 thing you showed to make the crash and ride as one.

I really hope this all works.

  • I'm using the ps3 kit with the ps3 piescript and my pedal doesn't register. Any ideas why?

  • You have to set up the kick pedal as a regular button in DTXMania....sorry about that.

  • dude it got removed from media fire, any other way to get the setup for the xbox360 ion set??

  • I'll get another link for it....you might be able to get it from GDAMania in the controllers section.

  • What if you use 2 rock band drum sets?

  • hopefully you got that

  • You use a keymapping program like joy2key to set up the drums as keyboard keys, then plug in the 2nd drumset after dtxmania loads.

  • Also,

    "The Count of Tuscanyyyyyyyyyyeeeaaaah!!"

  • Thanks for the GlovePie file man, it took some detective work, but I managed to modify it to work with the ION on PS3.

  • Can you give it to me so I can distribute it to everyone who's having problems? My email is on my page @ the bottom. Thanks.

  • The PS3 Glovepie script has been added to the zip!!

  • Same thing as Roxas232, I have the PS3 ION drum and i can't get it to work. Is it because im on X64 version of Windows ?

    i tried in both XP64 and WIN7 64 and it`s not working :S

  • Now that you mention it, I've heard a few complaints about 64 lately. Doesw the controller not show up in Game Controllers in control panel?

If it does, and DTXMania won't acknowledge it, my suggestion would be to use Joy2Key to configure the drumpads as keyboard keys (assuming J2K works on x64)

    Sound ok?

  • Actually my advice would only work on 4 pad sets. Let me do some more research. I need somebody to check what buttons do what. If it's a simple mixed up button issue, maybe I can fix.

  • Ok, so I've downloaded the program glovepie and I'm using a PS2 Rock band 1 controller. My computer has read it and each pad will register. When I open a glovepie file, do I still use IonforDTX?

  • I've tried using IonforDTX.pie, and DTXMania won't read my Rock Band controller.

  • If you're using the RB1 controller, you don't need Glovepie. Just set it up in DTXMania. Glovepie is only needed for drums with cymbals.

  • ...How do I set it up in DTXMania?

  • If you're using PS3, Ion kit, support has been added.

  • how to i get songs i cant play right now

  • i got songs but i cant put them into the dtx mania

  • Make a folder called DTXFiles and put your song folders in there. You can get songs by clicking on the descriptions of my videos, or go to GDAMania to the Sharing forum.

You can name the folders like "DTXFiles.New" or "DTXFiles.J-Pop" and that will give you folders named "New" and "J-Pop" in DTXMania

  • I have a "New" folder to audition songs to see if I like them....before I add them to my main collection

  • ya the songs wont go in the game when i download them

  • Are you unzipping them? Get on Yahoo IM and I'll help you out. My yahoo name is exactly what you think it is.

  • i have msn

  • Which one of us needs help here?

You can have more than one IM client, you know.

  • when i press the icon that says DTXManiaGR it say "The application failed to initialize property (0xc0000134). Click in OK to terminate the application." So it doesnt work...

  • You probably have multiple controllers plugged in. Unplug everything but your drums. Unless you're doing 2 drumsets. If you are, let me know.

  • You just go into config and select which drum you want to map to which pad, then hit the pad when it asks you to. They keyboard mappings are fine. They're supposed to be there too.

Make sure you set your CY cymbal to auto & set FT to FT1.

  • *The* keyboard mappings

  • when i open DTXmania, it uses the keyboard as my controller. im using rock band 1 pads. what do i do?

  • which rock band kit r u using ? wii ps3 or xbox

  • If your question is to me, it's a 360 Ion set.

  • i did this but i have no songs on DTXmania?? please tell me how to get songs??

  • Read my description, or look at some of my other videos, or my RB page, or my blog, or GDAMania's Sharing forum.

  • I downloaded some songs but there not on the game??

  • nvm i got it working but i cant get the bass drum to work???? like the pedal

  • That's my fault....I forgot to mention you have go into config and set the bass drum only. Just go to "Bass" and select an empty slot, then kick it & it should recognize the button. I need to add that to the video.

  • thanx its working now but i cant get my ion hihat to be both the open and the closed???

  • HH3, like the video and page say. ;)

  • Cool tutorial, really helpful if you have ION's, I don't have them since I've got a Wii,

  • I think you can still do it with Glovepie. Somebody put it up as a respinse to az's video pointing to my site. LOL

  • It was me xD

  • Then watch your tutorial! :p :p :p

  • to bad that they don't make ION's for wii, I know a way to make them work but it would need a real drum brain

  • Yeah, I have a crappy Yoki/Medeli brain so I've been there/done that. ;)

  • hey im trying this with a ps3 ion set and it wont work...is this supposed to work with a ps3 set?

  • I'm sure Madcat could make it support the PS3 probably. We just need to find somebody with the PS3 drums who's willing to do a little info gathering.

When you hook it up to the PC, does it show up as a game controller in Control Panel?

  • Bill, is it possible for me to use my 4 ion pads for the snare and all 3 toms and have 2 cymbals for hihat and crash/ride?

  • Did you watch the video? :p

    The answer is yes.

  • yea it does it shows up as harmonix drum device or something to that effect. it triggers buttons in the properties box too but i think the button layout may be different than the xbox one

  • Are you using the PS3 version?

  • yah i have the ps3 set...is there a ps3 version of the program?

  • I;m not sure if it works or not. You can give it a try, or you can post in the GDAMania thread I linked in the description. The author of the script will be able to answer your questions, and hopefully iron out any issues with the PS drums.

  • Plz see my reponse to xblackdemonx :)

  • im on 32 bit and it shows up as a controller, but the buttons dont work still on the program. i sort of got it to work with joy to key, by some crazy hack, but it doesnt work very well on fast parts or parts that are complicated.

  • Is this the only controller you have plugged in?

  • yup its the only controller plugged in

  • im curious about doing this but i just have a quick question. does this change anything for rock band?

  • Nope, not at all. Hooking your controller up to your computer won't change or harm it in any way. That's why Microsoft puts out the 360 controller driver, so you can use them on your PC.

  • no i meant like with the script running, if i plug my ions back into my xbox they'll still work normally right?

  • One has nothing to do with the other. You close glovepie when you're done, and plug your drums into your 360. When you're ready to play again, you can open glovepie again.

  • thank u sooooo much
