The Yamaha RX5 is the ONE. But if you want real oldschool punch I would go after the Yamaha RX11. Its PHATTT. Has a better snare than the RX5. And crisper hi-hats. And Kick 2 is very similar to the DMX. Circa New order "Blue Monday". But it has even more punch than a DMX. Gated it sounds incredible for authentic mid 80s electro/hip-hop.
