A few of my gamesaves got copied successfully onto my 2GB Wii SD Card, but all of the Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokémon, and other games with Nintendo WiFi Connection cannot be copied to the SD Card because the friend code will copy itself to the SD Card. If something went wrong with the Wii, I would have no way to backup all of the data. With the Xbox 360, I can copy everything without a problem to my flash drive.

I have a question for example I have a save file of super paper mario but if I move it to the sd card and then start playing the game would the wii make a new save file on its internal memory or would it load the data from the sd card?

@Beckjunk It makes a new save file into the internal memory, logically it's impossible to load gamesaves from an SD card. The Xbox 360 is different. You can use an SD/SDHC card, Memory Stick (PSP/PS3/Sony Camcorder), CF, xD, MicroSD, etc to transfer files from your Xbox 360 to the backup device to play the games onto another Xbox 360 easily.

because you arent copyingt the game but the save game i,e the level you got to will be recorded etc you only save that so you will need to have actually saved a game first

just tried to copy my smash bros brawl save data to my sd card.... and now i absolutely wanna take my wii and smash it against a wall. I put a ton of time into unlocking stuff in brawl, and now I am gonna loose all of it. I can understand putting heavy protection on copying games, but a SAVE GAME FILE!!?? WTF??? actually, your just copying the saved game, SO if you go to a friends house, and they have that game and YOU want to play your file, that is what it is for.

You can do that:First press the wii button on the channeldisplay or something, then left button, then left button, then chose Nintendo

Gamecube, chose the file you want tho copy,

press that, and press copy.

Thats it.

U need an external sd card reader to hook up to ur comp or get a camera or other usb device that uses sd cards. put 'em on there like any other external disk then put it in the console. I think u can also load games directly form the sd card but i'm not sure.
