@OriginalGagBonkerss But, to me, Cartoon Brew is cartoon BLOG, not a news site. I rather like seeing opinions that differ from my own; it makes conversations more interesting.
as it seems, there's a lot of people in the US who doesn't understand what the press should or shouldn't do. If you want to start your own objective cartoon news blog, one unable to be critic or to give opinions, go ahead. But at least to me, Cartoon Brew is okay just like it is.
@TheWMEforever yes, they're critical, and I don't agree with them sometimes. But you said "It's supposed to be about animation news, not reviews" ... why? I don't think that's accurate. Without their take in this kind of stuff there almost wouldn't be any "mainstream" mention at all on people disliking some really bad stuff the studios are making nowadays. They stand for what they believe in.
I went on a field trip in middle school to see The polar express. The animation was pretty cool, but I found the idea a kid riding a train all the way to the North Pole to get a bell as a present is kind of stupid. I admit though. The animation on the humans was kind of uncanny.
This is how fell about the motion capture films that Zemeckis made:
The Polar Express:This animation is cool but it wont last.
Beowulf:Ok I guess they are doing it again, alright.
A Christmas Carol:Ok now this is getting annoying.
Mars Needs Moms:Ok Zemeckis if you want to make an animated film you dont have to use real people,if you want to use real people then just make a live action movie.
(continued) Nonetheless though, they have done quite a lot in terms of contributions. For starters, they created awareness of Gilchrist’s Recobbled Cut long before Doug Walker reviewed it, and their little articles on short films and long lost cartoons are very interesting too. Overall though, the site is a mix of opinion and news which has to be taken with a pinch of salt, and in the end, that’s pretty much the basis of any news source.
@TheWMEforever Yeah, in general CB's reactions to the spoof review were fairly OTT. My point is, though, that Cartoon Brew were the ones who generated the publicity for the Recobbled Cut of the film, long before the Nostalgia Critic review was filmed. So while CB might be pretty stuck-up and pouty at times, at least they know art when they see it. BTW, have you heard about the documentary being made on TTATC? And have you watched any of Williams' other work?
I think the main problem of CB is that it’s written by oldies that pine for the animators of the Golden Age, and can’t fully realise the potential of flash and other formats of modern animation. Sure, timing and spacing and other animation techniques used by Babbit et al would be nice, but they forget that the medium and the way the story is told isn’t the most important thing, it’s the underlying motive and intentions are.
The mo-cap "Tintin" movie has potential, you have Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, and Edgar Wright attached to the project. I think it is in very good hands.
Awwwww, they used his "The Polar Express" as the example? That was the only mo-cap movie he made that had potential to be a classic. (Christmas Carol and Beowulf were decent at best, they're not classics but there are still enjoyable)
@MrBlockishMark The movie was used to torture someone in prison - this actually happened. The criminal was supposedly tortured by being forced to watch the movie over and over again because it was too childish for him. Cartoon Brew probably thinks it's just the mo-cap animation because they're obsessed over hating it so much.
@TheWMEforever It’s disgraceful how they’re altering a news story about torture so they can add in their opinionated views on Mo-Cap and CGI. For once they’ve gone beyond petty anger at animation and tried to twist real-life events so they can make a statement on modern animation. That’s pretty fucking sad for something that claims to be a reputable animation industry news site.
I like Jerry's articles,but Amid's are awful

It's either Cartoon Brew or Toon Zone. Neither is exactly the desirable choice.

THAT'S OPINION! NOT NEWS!
Ahh, I loved this episode.
Even though their opinions aren't always agreeable with, I enjoy reading Jerry and Amid's opinions on animation.

@PIFMan092 Sure they made an article about Doug Walker's review, but I don't really care if a fake critic reviews it.

@TheWMEforever Except they weren't actually forced to watch it from what I hear.

@TheWMEforever It's worse than that. I read an article where it says he can hear "the screams of the children" even when the film is off.
