I have read every scrap of the web page this man has put up and from what i read this was just the saddest thing anyone has ever had to go through. Not only with his eldest kid but how anyone can say anything about you and take away years of you're life. if i had found this a year ago i would have been on the first flight to stand beside him on his court date. I say good luck to you and best wishes to you're wife and kids. (and who knows maybe one day she will see what she did was wrong).
You seem to be selectiviely illieterate. The last line of my previous post was "The police and social services have a job to do. They happened to go about it the wrong way in this case but they had a reason to be at that house."
Where have I ever said that the police were correct in this case?? My original point was that they had a reason to go there and the guy who posted the video does not mention why..unless the viewer goes to the link.
"Relevant or not, it is interesting that the video maker wants our support while not telling us why the cops were there." - That statement is completely false. Read the description, and follow the link. They've put up a website that outlines all of the specifics of the entire case in explicit detail - including links to all of the unedited court transcripts.
@gotgank ..the guy who posted the video doesn't seem to want anyone to know why Social services or the cops wanted to go out of their way to bother them at the ranch.
@mapache11@gotgank If they wanted on to the property legally, they could have gotten a warrant. If they didn't have a warrant, then they either didn't bother to, or weren't able to, show valid probable cause to a judge - either way, without a warrant, "why" they were there is completely irrelevant.
@BloatedSensations ...obviously the cops and social services had a reason to go to the property. They don't pick some addresses out of a phone book and drive over. Why they didn't get a warrant is anyone's guess...as is the reason for their surprise visit. Relevant or not, it is interesting that the video maker wants our support while not telling us why the cops were there. What if he is making child porn there, or has his wife tied up in the barn?
@mapache11 "What if he is making child porn there, or has his wife tied up in the barn?" - What if YOU are doing the same? "What if" is no basis for granting legal authority to search, harass and ignore laws and civil rights... unless, of course, you actually like living under the dictate of a tyrannical state.
@BloatedSensations ... You obviously miss the point. Let me make it clearer for you. Someone is doing something illegal at their house. Like making child porn. Maybe using your daughter, niece, whatever. The police get a call about it. You wouldn't want them to investigate it? Even if it turned out to be an ex wife angry at her spouse??
The police and social services have a job to do. They happened to go about it the wrong way in this case but they had a reason to be at that house.
@mapache11 "The police get a call about it. You wouldn't want them to investigate it?" - Investigate? Sure. Force entry onto property, which has clear notice posted, acting on something like an anonymous call? Absolutely not. The SC has ruled - and rightly so - that an anonymous tip is not enough to support probable cause. Now, if they have valid probable cause that a crime is being committed, that's an entirely different matter. That WAS NOT the case in this instance.
@BloatedSensations ...tyranny?? Statements like that are invariably made by people who have never seen it.
I suggest a quick trip to Myanmar.
There are dozens of less regulated countries in the world that you are free to move to. You'll find, however, that there is a direct correlation between your freedom to do whatever you like and the lack of infrastructure. Haiti, El Salvador, Belize or Guyana (in case you don't speak French or Spanish) are in your hemisphere.
@mapache11 Myanmar? Never been. I did spend 9 days in Rwanda, 3 weeks in Lebanon, 2 weeks in the Philippines, and a week in Thailand, (I spent about 4 hours in jail in that last one for a speeding ticket! It's actually a very funny story.) along with a couple of other places. (I used to be employed as a photographer with the Canadian government) Where have you been?
@mapache11 "There are dozens of less regulated countries in the world that you are free to move to." - Umm... aren't YOU the one arguing FOR less regulation?!?!?! I mean, you seem to be in favor of government agents having the ability to act in any manner they may choose based solely on the requisite that they perceive that they "have a job to do." Perhaps you should visit some of the places you mention. I'm sure you'll find their methods of policing, at least, much to your approval!
Yes when you dont like people to come onto your property and they rufuse to leave it must be because your a very bad person. When they come into your home even when you ask them not to because they fill like doing it dont cry dont complain. Just repeat these words I must be hideing somthing.
@goarfang you are missing the point, if he just wanted to sit in his house and not be bothered then it is is right, it is not anyone else land. you forget this is a free country
There must be a story behind this somewhere but it escapes me. One can only think that the owners of the Ranch had something to hide otherwise they would not be so beligerent. If someone from Town Hall visits them, ask them nicley what they want, give them a cold drink and say goodbye. Perhaos the tags will tell us more.
@bobjethro This is double-think, and double-talk. It's belligerent for officials to ignore the laws and demand access to someone's property, and if you don't think they get very indignant, belligerent and even violent when denied the ability to screw your rights, try standing up for your rights a few times.
@bobjethro No matter how you feel about it, I'm coming over to your house tomorrow. I'm going to hang out there for as long as I choose. And, and I'm going to snoop around your house and property, wherever, and for how long I choose. I've also got a bunch of questions I'd like to ask you, and you'd better answer them. You're fine with all of this, I imagine? Or, have you got something to hide?
