To be honest. Zhuge Liang's northern expedition was doomed to fail from the beginning. Shu is full of mountainous terrans which is easy to fend off intruders but also hard to attack + transport rations / supplies from. Sima Yi knew that and simply avoided battles until Shu's rations dried out.. If Shu didn't lose Jing Zhou to Wu they would've had an easier path to attack Wei.
in dynasty warrior 6 zhuge liang not died of illness, he died if we kill him in shu main camp.In dynasty warrior 5 zhuge liang died of illness and jiang wei become a commander, why is so different?
@skeleton123100 dynasty warriors is BASED off the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Novels. And those are based off real history. Based off doesn't always mean 100% accurate.
@MrHmongRooster Wei Yan and Yang Yi had a war over who would succeed Zhuge Liang and take command of the troops. Yang Yi got the favor of the court and troops. Wei Yan fled to Han Zhong, but on the way Ma Dai caught up to him and killed him.
Govern those 2 cities must be defensive oriented. when he tried to invade wei, the balance of the 3 position was damaged. Wu would not take a chance to invade wei because wei had the largest resources, armies, etc.Wu needed Shu because just as much Shu needed Wu. If i were Liu Bei, i would have put Zhao yun in charge of Xiang yang and Jiang ling. He reads the situation better than guan yu and always followed order of zhuge liang.
@killCrsiller45 No, look at historical records. Jiang Wei really did suck.
15 years, 9 expeditions and he couldn't take a single town. It wasn't just the eunuch Huang Hao that disliked him. Even noted heroes like Zhuge Zhan and the entire Yizhou gentry were against his wars which exhausted Shu so much.
bad luck... if Liu Bei's useless son Ah Dou had not being so useless, Zhuge Liang would have lived longer from having less stress, living longer would have maybe been enough to conquer Wei.
I don't think Shu would have never taken over China, unless everyone in Wei were stupid and did everything wrong while Shu did absolutely everything right. Wei was pretty much 5 Shus put together, and Wei was well-governed throughout its history. Shu, on the other hand...
You can't argue history like that. if, if, if. What if Guo Jia didn't die early and Cao Cao won Red Cliffs? What if Lu Su was never found by Sun Quan and there was no alliance and Liu Bei fled to the Jiao province (as he wanted to do) and died in obscurity?
If you look at it in a balanced manner you'll see what a miracle it is Shu lasted as long as it did, or for that matter, even existed.
Also it's highly doubtful Liu Bei had 200,000 troops at Xiaoting. Cos the Yi Province could only support about 100,000 at most.
I kind of agree with your other points but I don't think any of them, or even all of them put together, could have helped Shu win. The odds just weren't in their favour. (Okay aside from Guan Yu dying, not so much Guan Yu dying but Guan Yu losing Jing, that was the point of no return for Shu's ambition of conquest)
@sagara5293 Actly I Would Like to tell u sumthing.. Shu Was actly a rebel not a countray because liubei fought in the yellow turbans he was just a officer helping for fun only but later sum ppl was recruited and he decided to make a countray but truth is Shu Was Actly too small even to be counted as a Army

@sagara5293 But Guan Yu Owe cao Cao a debt and let him off, And Zhuge Liang Never Join Wei Partly Because of 1 reasons, in china ppl says zhuge liang joined Shu Is Because Wei Has Alot Of Talented Generals And Zhuge Liang Cannot Shine In Wei So He Took Shu And If Shu Was not Sided With Wu Shu Would Have Been Crusherd Misrablely And Liu Bei Was not Smart He Was allyways
@sagara5293 Asking Bout Zhugeliang wat to do.. Liu Bei Was Not A Hero As He Was Same As Cao Cao Because they all wanted to capture china and unified it. LiuBei A little Wise But Stupid(No Offense) Cao Cao Wise Firece And Smart
@sagara5293 It wasn't a question of talented generals. ZhugeLiang/Jiangwei waged too many long campaigns against the more populated and richer CaoWei and achieved little but only to wrecked Shu's economy.
I disagree on your statement.Zhuge Liang was long admire by Chinese, even centuries before the "Romance of Three Kingdom" was written.
Du Fu,a reknown Chinese Tang Dynasty poet, praise Zhuge Laing in his poem.Yue Fei,a well-known Chinese Song Dynasty general also did the same thing.I'm pretty sure these guys was not influenced by "Romance of The Three Kingdom" which was written in Ming Dynasty.
They admire him for what he did to the state of Shu,holding it together for years.
Zhuge liang was a grea man i accidentally gave u dumbs up wen i meant to giv huxi.....Zhuge liang isn't greatly exagerrated if sima yi and Zhuge lIANG DIED THE SAME DAY Zhuge liang would win!!!!....zHUGE LIANG MADE zHOU YU GET SO FRUSTRATED MAYBE THATS Y ZHOU YU DIED EARLY....lONG LIVE THE KINGDOM OF WU!!!!!....
You are right. Zhuge Liang in real history is not like in the novel. But you don't understand why Chinese are still proud of such a half fictional figure. Chinese are proud of him because the novel has long become part of Chinese culture. Zhuge Liang's spirit represents the spirit that Chinese cherish. Similarly, Cao Cao, Guan Yu and so on, they all represent something chinese admire or dislike.
Zhuge Liang was a not a great politician, he was a better strategist, Liu Bei did tell him that if Ah Dou was useless, he could rise up and take over command over Shu, Sima Yi only won because he refused to fight with Zhuge Liang knowing Zhuge Liang didn't have long to live...
This is only your own prejudices, you do not understand Chinese history, if he really mediocre as you said, China will not be respected by the people of past history.

matthewmanhorn is quite right, you cant mix "historical record of three kingdoms" by chien shou with the historical fiction "romance of three kingdoms" and luoguanzhong
I disagree. Apart from a few absolute fabrications (The Peach Garden Oath, Zhang Yide whipping the government inspector when it was in fact Xuande and so on) the SGYY is an extrapolated version of the the SGZ: this extrapolation gives a cultural context to what is ultimately a VERY dry list of events. The SGZ is virtually unreadable.

His plan was to get rid of wei first, then strike wu INTERNALY. But he worked to hard, no sleep, no rest, and lost faith witin some officers. His life was coming to an end. BUt to tell the truth, THE SHU KINGDOM WAS FUCKEN RICH AND FUCKEN POWERFUL, COMPARED TO WEI. If Fucken ah dou wasn't so stupid, shu would of won at Chen cang and took Luo Yang
Did you say that because of your pro-Shu sentiment? It is well agreed among the Chinese historians that Shu was the weakest kingdom while Wei was the strongest and Wu was in the middle. According to the Records of Three Kingdoms, Wei controled about 40% of the then Chinese territory, and 58% of the population. It is estimated that it could raise an army of four hundred and forty thousand while Shu and Wu could manage only one hundred thousand and two hundred and thirty thousand, respectively.
Not quite. When Liu Bei was defeated when he tried avenging Guan Yu, it had already exhausted Shu resources. Then followed by Zhuge Liang's 5 unsuccessful expeditions against Wei exhausted even more of the resources they had left.

Then followed by Zhuge Liang's 5 unsuccessful expeditions against Wei exhausted even more of the resources they had left. I do agree that Ah Dou was a fucktard. If he hadn't botched the 3rd or 4th expedition against Wei, Shu would have won.
People who are serious about learning the real history of the Three Kingdom era should take a look at the Records of Three Kingdoms. The Romance of Three Kingdoms contains so much fabrication that some good people are depicted as bad.

Zhuge Liang, looking at history, was right to distrust Wei Yan, even if he did not actually rebel. Historically, a man who once betrays his master is more likely to do so again, as we saw with Lu Bu, who slew two fathers and betrayed his oath to Liu Bei.
