it is a total solar eclopse only in a small part of the world! Picture a large circle, that covers a part of the Earth! What ever the circle covers, ppl see a partcial eclipse! Then there is a small dark circle in the center of the large one, if that is over land, ppl see a total solar eclipse! Its very rare b/c its so small, somtimes its just over the ocean! :D
Gothxshadow ...to bad you didn't see it and recorded it on your camcorder ! They said you could see it really well over Hong Kong . I live in California so I dont think we will see anything =(
foxglove, I have already seen three quarters of the moon covered, and it was really amazing. In Shanghai there'll be a full eclipse, but I think it's raining there or something. Really amazing, REALLY AMAZING!!!!!
gdogvibes1 unfortunatelly there are also lots of ignorant supersticious people in America. Just think about all the bible freaks, religion fanatics, mass murders and suicides in sects and cults. Not to speak about all the crazy rednecks who believe in creationism. So saying that people in India believe that something bad is going to happen is a bit unfair.
if you're not in Asia, no way of seeing it. And it's gotta depend which part of the globe you're on. Different locations, different times. you can check it out on wiki for the timings
you'll get to see it! but it won't be a TOTAL eclipse. Just partial. But you'll be able to see more than 70% of it covered... that's for sure. It'll be around 9.30am or so... Hong Kong timing
I live in Singapore and I can't see the full eclipse. And it's been so cloudy since 8am, and now it's raining =.= I don't think I can see the eclipse again this time... sigh :(
Eclipses carry no evil forces~ Just make sure that you view it safely, e.g. by using eclipse glasses specifically designed for that purpose or pinhole projection. If you're lucky to view totality, you can remove your filter at that time (ONLY when the sun is FULLY obscured; not when the diamond ring or when any Bailey Bead remains)
Thanks July222009Eclipse for the reply. Unfortunately the continental US cannot see any of today's eclipse. Western US can see an annular eclipse in 2012 while a total one will be visible from a narrow corridor within the US in 2017.
That s right.!A solar eclipse in Asia

The northern tip of Australia can see a partial eclipse of very small magnitude... just less than 5%.
