I enjoy this movie,but my problem with 'Wolfen' is that to this day I barely understand the whole plot of the movie!ok,there's a pack of super-intelligent wolves terrorizing MY city of New York and Indians,or Native Americans however u wanna put it,knows about these bizzare murders that are occuring one by one;but it really does'nt matter to me,it's still a good movie even though it's so underrated.

@maes what you not únderstand is that in this movie there is a deep approach done between archaic patterns and some people (ndians) who are still in possession of ancient emotional, spiritual structures. These are the archaic pulsations they are still in contact with. There are no wolves, there are only some spirits existing which have the appearance of wolves who embodies hidden structures inside people.

And natives are still able to feel them because of their deeper spirituality

i had problems understanding some of the plot. Did the wolves only kill those who were a threat to their turf? Albert Finney and Diana Venora pulled guns on the wolves at the end and were spared.

not much into werewolf movies but this movie holds its own. It's much better than the HOWLING or AMERICAN WEREWOLF in London as far as i'm concerned.

I am going to be making a music video for this movie and i am having trouble with a song... the song i am thinking about is kind of about politics and hate for the world... it's called orgy of flies by sarcofago.. either that or i'll do a song by megadeth... if you think of any other good songs... let me know... i'll do my best to make it fit perfectly of the movie even though this movie isnt much on polotics i still think it has the dark vibe kind of like the movie has :)

this is truly a classic ! especially those 'wolf-vision'-scenes are creepy. interesting story, good acting, creepy atmosphere, good horror-movie-music. much better than most horror flicks nowadays.

I just can't believe how bad parts of the Bronx used to look. My subway commute goes through the South Bronx every day, and while it's not exactly a pretty area, these 1981 shots make the modern version look like freakin' Beverly Hills. It's amazing it was ever allowed to deteriorate this far. Thank God it's better now.

It's a murder mystery surrounding Indian legend. Albert Finney and Gregory Hines are awesome. And you'll never, by the way, get off a cough; They'll tear your throat out.

I saw this in the theater when I was 10! There were lots and abandoned buildings in my section of Brooklyn and I was terrified of them after seeing this film. Like Jaws made people afraid of the beach. The creepy vibe of this film makes you cold. And the thermal creature point of view shots were later lifted by the producers of The Predator. This was a great lost 80s horror film with a clever script. Well directed and acted. Never got the recognition it deserves.
