  • "Word...Life" is maybe my favourite 1994 album. It's up there with "The Main Ingredient", "Resurrection", "llmatic", "The Beatnuts: Street Level", "Southernplayalistic", and "Stress: The Extinction Agenda". They are all certified classics.

  • I can dig it Brah, I was once told by a dude like about 6 years younger than my self. That he doesn't like NAS because Music is not suppose to make him think. SMH ain't that some shit

  • Music is suppose to make you think. The devil music is not the lyrics but the music itself.

  • HOW da fuck O.C has over 17,000 views Only, and Lil'Wayne has over 10MILLION...there is something wrong here.. it makes me laugh how hip/hop just turned into CRAP, at least in the main stream shit. U wouldn't find none of that lil wayne or other BS in the radio station back in da 90's NYC!! Whaaa

  • word. fuck lil wayne and all that materialistic bullshit.

  • @freedomland11

uhm haha i always thought the same thing... btw seriously who is lil wayne omg?! aah its so good when u have a mind that can just ignore all the crap ppl bringin out... who is 50, is he real hiphop?! No. Most Artists dont even know what real hiphop is imo...who are all these mainstream mofos, who listen to them? Answer is: the BRAINWASHED

  • @19viECh81 its been a month since you replied. And your right, DA BRAINWASHED!! I mean, I'm 24 im not old yet lol..But being raised in da Bronx and Queens, I mean this is what gave me the energy to write and freestyle as my hobbie. I'm a theatre major and writing major. I have to be very grateful that true Hip/hop was infused into my blood. Big Ups to "Main Source" "O.C" "The Roots" "Rakim" "Pete Rock&CL Smooth" "Az" "Big L" ohh, i could keep going and going "Mos Def" "Tribe called Quest". u No!

  • Yo anyone let me know what the track is at the start of this video not the O.C track but the oldschool sample intro at the begining

  • Little Boy Blue - Seed of Love

  • OC stays movin' up on the list.

  • i knew Jay-Z had dat P.S.A. beat from sum where, and i remember it on dis track..........and then music starts using part of dat Roy Ayers"Serching" in it....CLASSIC song rite here!!

  • OC! One of my favorite emceez....I miss THE GOLDEN AGE of Hip Hop. To this day, my friend and I still be discussing that Point O Viewz should have been released as a single off of the Word....Life album. This just goes to show you that people at these record labels, don't know what the fuck they're doing half the time.

    REAL TALK.

  • TRUE.... my fav track from word....life. classic album.

  • I completely agree with you Marcus... This song was so BOMB I thought it was released as a single... I bumped this so HARD in the 90's I forced kats to love this joint!

  • @MarcusHardy2741 no doubt cuz. you speak the truth.

  • @MarcusHardy2741 Fam u aint neva lying!

  • they don't make 'em like this anymore

  • Use 2 bump this Chi streets LOUD as fuck in the 90's...

swear 2 gawd... kats would here dis shyt at least 3 blocks before they saw my ride...

I wore the track layers off this shyt!!

Damn miss those good ole days of Dope hip-hop!

  • OC Legendary already...

  • This album makes you think man, just one of those albums that really grabs you. especially when your toking on an L... this and Illmatic have a similiar sortof back in the days vibe that reminds me of just wilding out as a youngster

  • pure

  • 0:01 - 0:18 - Black moon - stay real

  • Point O Viewz is from '94, Stay Real is much later. It's just the same sample

  • buckwild had some hot production on this album

  • Anyone know any other shit buckwilds done similar to his work on Big L's (RIP) debut?

Him and finesse tore that to shreds, every beat on that album is spine chilling

  • I listened to this CD for the first time yesterday while blazed. Now its one of my favourite CD's. Every track on the album is great n the intro is soo chilll

  • Yessss enjoy it man the 1st time I heard Livin Proof album by Group Home I was blazed too it sounded soo much better like that.

  • @Rapstablog Where did you find this cd?

  • @erocablok I purchased my copy of OC's Word...Life online (probably on Amazon). My copy is a re-release that has 2 bonus remixes of Born 2 Live and Time's Up. This classic album is worth every penny and should be in every hip-hop head's collection.

  • @dazeofreality co-sign!

  • My Graffiti /Freestyle at the party/ Lets get some girls/Weed phase..Back when even the street hustling gang banging cats in my city respected and participated in this hip hop thang...HAAAAA! The memories yo! Thanks weirdguy

  • i got this lp. O.C. was to blow up the same time Nas did. cause M.C. Serch was executive producer of his lp too.

  • dope.

  • the intro to the song....this is hip-hop

    the production is mad unique

  • eehm ready to die???

  • o.c. d.i.t.c. the REAL HIP HOP FUCK ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!! 90S GOLDEN AGE OF HIP HOP 00S HIP POP?

  • Come on. This isn't the best release to come out of '94? Most say Illmatic only because they've never heard of this. If you know of O.C. it is most likely that he is your favorite rapper if not in your top 3.

Word...Life, best album ever. Hands down.

  • I love listening to ill tracks like this, reminds me of why I fell in love with her(hip hop) in the first place.

  • They keep seeming to be taking down O.C. Tracks.. I tried to put Ga Head on..but naw it didn't let due to violation....

  • yo that begining goes wit p.s.a. by jay-z

  • ill track

  • this song is ILL in all aspects, my personal favourite of o.c and yet only 6k viewers in one year on youtube(only vid of this track...) I thought there were more hip hop heads than this...(30 of the 6k are mine even :s)

  • cllassic

  • IMO this was the better release than NAS' Illmatic in '94. Lord Finesse and Buckwild both on the albums production! DOPE!!

  • This is my favorite O.C. track! The lyrics are on point and the beat is niiiiiiice; very nice, indeed! This was also my favorite album of his. "Jewelz" was great on its own right, too, but this is where he REALLY put it down.

  • one of the most slept on

  • yup

  • pure dopeness

  • Used to blast this shit in my basement before goin to school high! (get it) I looped this on a Maxell for about ten minutes and we used to catch wreck to dis one...

  • O.C. is the god! word

  • classic album, damn why didn't I upload that classic song, one of my favorite o.c. trackz

  • if u have "king of newyork" please post it!

  • shoot at you acters like moviedirecters

  • what is the song by jay-z called its been driving me nuts

  • Tha' Intro. It starts off "Allow me to reintroduce myself/My name is HOV"

  • that's Public Service Announcement from The Black Album

  • Yeah that's tha' damn song. It is an intro on Word..Life. Hey, even true hip-hop heads (and Jay-Z fans) slip up sometimes. Thanks for tha parachute.

  • public service announcement

  • It's a trip how cats R saying stuff like, "OC wasn't mad a Jay 4 using this beat" & "I knew where the Jay-Z beat came from." U all act like O.C./Buckwild R the original artists & not the samplers.

  • No pun intended but if we are smart enough to check for an artist like O.C. from 'DIGGIN' IN THE CRATES' then we obviously know about sampling from original artists. Just to clarify there's a difference from using a beat and making the music.

  • Yeah, I guess you're right, bruh.I guess cats just phrase it that way bcuz it's a given that O & Buck aren't the original composers.Say, though, Y did U start your comment w/, "No pun intended"? What word did U play on?

  • I started the comment like that because a majority of Hip Hop fans are very sensitive and I didn't want you to take it the wrong way. Check the YouTube user Realhiphopsucks page for proof positive. It's basically a page of sarcasm where he comments on every video like this saying something like, "This is wack Souljah Boy is better". People chew him out yet don't get the sarcasm. It's kinda funny to see people get pissed even though dude mentions obsure acts like Boogie Monsters/Bush Babees.

  • LOL, yeah, I've peeped dude's page out.Yeah, he's flying over cat's heads w/ that ish! He names Antoinette 4 christ's sake!!! Young cats don't know about her. Most "heads" don't know about that chick.I still don't get where U used a pun(a play on words), but I got U.1.

  • Y'all just let the dumb be dumb til they get tired of it. Only a few got that see-thru intelligence...

  • Hip Hop like this really makes me happy and sad at the same time. It's a shame that rap music the last 10 years has been utter crap. R.I.P and thank GOD for the internet where I can find classics like this one.

  • O.C. was never mad at Jay for taking the beat into a full song (discounting Black Moon "I Got Cha Opin original" minus the organs). In fact, in a halftime online interview O said, "I wish I thought of that flow to use to the track".

  • O.C. shouldn't be mad cause Jay did tha' beat so much justice. But it took Jay to do it.

  • I used to be the only person I knew that knew where Jay-Z's intor beat came from. When I heard that beat as an intro back in like '93 '94 I always said I wish somebody would make it into a whole track. Then when HOVA the GOD ripped it I couldn't be happier.

  • claasic O.C.!!! I wish music these days sounded like this

  • it's great to know buckwild used that sample at the beginning before blackmoon and just blaze. i actually think the beat buck made for the actual track is a lost classic, so 94 new york style. lovin it. the second best track off word...life, behind time's up of course

  • Of course, 1st Bootcamp coped this beat in 1st seconds ... dope song too

  • oh my god now i know where jay z got the beat

  • this album is fire...different level
