What happens most of the time is that the testers are of really good quality..you try them and they look good..but the actual un-opened product that you will end up buying is a totally different story! Bad quality and hardly any pigment.

I am so glad that you used a MAC example. So many artists and makeup enthusiasts swear by MAC, but they are NOT the only brand of good quality makeup out there. I've had several products that are exactly like MAC if not BETTER and I still had money left over to purchase other things. Wonderful advice!

sometimes i do like to have a more sheer color on the lid though.. it's sometimes nice to have a buildable color because you can have more variety of looks. but yeah, if it's an expensive eyeshadow then i guess it should be worth your money.

Great Video ! I totally agree with, the girl in Mac told me beauty marked would go great on my eyes and she showed me it and I thought that's gorgeous, bought it, got it home, and its like any other eyeshadow that I could have bought for half the price :( oh well !!

Sounds like a common sense tip but honestly, I've never thought of that! I totally understand. It would also be bad to have to build the color on your eyes since we'll be rubbing our eyes way too much! I bought a NYX white eyeliner for a very cheap price and it was so waxy that not much white came out and I was going over and over on my waterline and it irritated my eyes. Whereas, MAC Kohl White eyeliner was effortless and one swipe was so pigmented but cost more... but less damaging on the eyes

Sleek eyeshadows come off EXACTLY as they appear in the pan even if you barely touch it lightly and you literally have to wash the pigment off. Dont give in to brand snobbery cz they are better than alot of.high end.companies x

Most colors look pigmented when they're on your finger, though. After you get it on your finger, you should really swatch it on your hand/arm.

I have some alergies, makeup with smells strong, and sometimes with the components of some products, So I always test what I'll buy, but some brands don't have tester and when this happens I don't buy never.

Good quick tip! I think tis even more important for high end. I wanted the Tarte for true blood palette, but it would take 3 swatches to get the real color! Why pay $55 for that when I can get Wet n Wild for way cheaper and they work.

I have the same problem with another MAC eyeshadow, it's supposed to be a metallic kind of purple but if you swatch it, it turned into this smokey colour and the metallic is just gone. It was in one of the MAC Christmas palettes last year. I don't mind it, because I love smokey colours and such, but still, you expect something else.

So obvious, but how many of us have fallen for a pretty color in a pot and just ignored the fact that it swatched terribly? That's one of the reasons I love Inglot. You barely have to touch your finger to the pot and your finger is saturated in pigment.
