I was just there this week, does any one know what happen to the XB-70 ? About 27 years ago I saw it outside, park out front. I got really tired after 3 hours walking around and I forgot to ask any one!!! It wasn't till I headed home that I remembered it was there. I did see the Enola Gay, and the proto type Space Shuttle at Dules airport Museum near Washington DC. We at Dover AFB rebuilt Shoo-Shoo Baby B-17, and it CAN FLY!!!!! It flew there!!!!
For megadog200: Do they still have the XB-70 Valkyrie at Wright/Patterson A.F.B.? I'd love to go there some time. If you are ever in Pensacola, Florida, go see the Naval Aviation Museum at N.A.S. Pensacola.
i live near the museum, its basically my home i try to go there when i have time , i love everything about it , it may be all the same planes but its good to look at them and all they have done for the military like win WWI, WWII, Cold War, Vietnam, Space Programs, and all that good stuff :D im gonna try and get a job as a night guard there cause they say its haunted and if it is i wanna see it myself and get hit in the head by .50 cal (J/K)
If you have not been back since you should. They now have a third hanger, an Imax screen, a silo with missiles and spacecraft. They are able to display many more planes than they were before. They even have a train car that is an intercontinental ballistic missile platform. There is a fourth hanger to the side that is off limits except for bus tours, you can see the Memphis Belle under restoration. It will fly again!!!
there were atleast 4 operational jets before the me-262.! The me262 was the first jet to enter into actual combat !!
