Joe...you had mentioned in another video that Dan Inosanto's JKD Concepts are passe. Wouldn't that apply to this type of demo you're doing here as well?
@brianspost75 So a bite or tearing is bullshido/ I know a few palces where this bulshido can be tested. One is In Mexico and no worries about lawsuits. The other is Indonesia and in this area they would love to have a so call world champion on their ground. NO worries about lawsuits there. Just the will and knowledge that it might be your last fight. MMA I do it for fun but is not real fighting. Is a sport!! Sport=rules! Indonesia + Mexico=NO rules!
Joseph Simonet has been doing martial arts since 1972. He holds several black belts in various arts including Kenpo Karate, Thia boxing, Silat, and Wing Chun just to name a few. He has owned and operated several martial arts studios over the years, and was also a power lifter. He has been around for a while. He is just now starting to be come known in the martial arts world right now, but his stuff is good. This guy is no joke! he could pulverize people pretty easy with his skill and strength!
@bobasin Islam is a religion. Silat was there even before Islam got to Indonesia. Islam is a belief and was not Indonesia' religion. Some Silat practitioners have nothing to do with Islam and some of the styles don't want to have anything to do with any religion.
damn joe youre brutal hahahahaha i like silat alot, i hate when people start talking like its a muslim martial art, its an ancient asian martial art and muslis stole it from natives. keep up the good work joe!!
Cool stuff but it seems to rely on your opponent being slower than you and not reacting, but I know it's only a demo. I would like to see clips where the other guy responds properly and counter techniques are used, please
Wow, that "martial science vs. martial art" explanation has opened new doors for me in my mind. A mark of a true teacher and expert is their ability to take something that would be complicated and keep it simple so that noobs like me can understand.
@pieter4151 you can use a boxing technique, dodge, uppercut, and hope he wont block or get up if connected. OR you can use silat technique which immobilize him instantly. take practice though.
He is very strong. He recently wrote an article that will piss off a lot of grandmasters because he said in a nutshell that they need to get off the buffet line and go back to the gym and lose the massive amount of fat.

nevermind where it's from-has anyone noticed the blatantly Chinese ying yang symbol at the bottom of the vid? Stupid gwai los trying to be open minded but can't even get the fuckin region & race right!
Dude, you're a moron. If you'd notice, he also has a Wing Chun Dummy in the studio which IS Chinese. The Yin & Yang symbol is not representative of China, it's a representation of a universal principal. Pull your head outta your ass.
Actually...if you knew anything...that is the logo for HIS business (KI fighting concepts), also Joseph has studied several martial arts including but not limited to silat...Get your information right before you start swinging.
Those arts include Kenpo (Chuan Fa), Wing Chun, Doce Pares, and Silat.
In the words of Bruce Lee...truly, "empty heads have long tongues!"
Silat began spreading throughout the Malay Archipelago in the seventh century AD, but its origin is still uncertain. Silat has been acknowledged as a genuine Malay art. Malay people that have inhabited coastal cities of Sumatra island and Malay peninsula, from Aceh in the north to Kelantan, Kedah and Riau archipelago in the south, practiced silat.
It can be said in Malaysia as seni silat (art of silat), seni bela-diri (art of self-defence) and sometimes ilmu silat (knowledge of silat). In Sumatra, silat is known as silek and in Java and Indonesia as Pencak Silat. NO BODY CAN CLAIMED SILAT COME FROM THEIR COUNTRY
@tengkuraxx I can see what you mean. If you look at the geography, though, Malaysia, the Phillipines, Thailand, are all east of Indonesia. With some degree of certainty, silat can trace its roots to southern Chinese ch'uan fa as well as pakua. It seems reasonable that that is how people would learn it-- from Indonesia and then to the east. You can see the same pattern with fighting arts in Okinawa being influenced by south-eastern styles of kung fu.
As usual indonesian ppl especially javanese or jawa totok they will write something that nvr use their brain and like to create controversy. The fact that indonesian ppl like to create story and always talk something that not according to fact. Next time try to write something that not show how stupid and proud person you are indonesian ppl. I think u indonesian jelous with us Malaysian ppl. That is the fact. Go go go Jawa Totok

lol i discover that silat is from Indonesia and Malaysia.silat has many style some from Malaysia and some from Indonesia
read this:
Roughly speaking, silat means skill for fighting. There are hundreds of different styles of silat, most of which are found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, southern Thailand and the southern Philippines. Common to all of these styles is a combat-oriented ideology and the use of weaponry.

Silat is from Java.
Java is the most populous, most influential militarily, politically and culturally since the days East Java destroyed Sriwijaya.
Java is the most populous single area, and has the oldest archeological remains in the entire SE Asia.
Malaysia/Brunei are nothing but a British construct to continue exploiting oil, tin and rubber.

ya..its origin is in indonesia...
but u must know that there r different kinds of malays in south east asia.like jawa, bugis n boyan
we dont claim silat's origin is from m'sia..
but we origin n claim the type of silat like silat gayong malaysia, silat cekak, silat pulut n many more..
since we r almost the same as the indonesia,
we do carry similarities in our own culture.
