You're right. It's absolutely insane what people want to say or think about Obama and the progressive stance in general, which I don't believe Obama is that progressive or liberal at all.

I really think faux news is a huge part of the blame. Many many people use that as their ONLY source of political knowledge.

You know who lives off the system, sometimes for their entire lives? Prisoners. This country spends a staggering amount of money rooming and boarding its prison population. But you won't hear conservatives talking about reforming the legal system, or reclassifying minor felonies into misdemeanors. Because there's nothing that says Freedom like having the world's largest prison population.

Productivity growth means that less people are required to do the same work, products get cheaper, and bigger companies make more money while wages stay as low as possible. Wealth accumulates in a minority's hoard and the middle class gets smaller, as long as society maintains its blind faith in infinite growth. And the faithful have the nerve to complain that the increasing number of poor people dare to like staying alive. What happened to human dignity? What happened to social conscience?

Do I want to see another republican monster like Mitt or Newt win... Fuck no.

But do I expect Obama to actually be progressive come the time that he gets elected again...

My prediction will be exactly what we saw before. progressive Obama before being elected again. Cave Obama after reelected.

I just want a real Teddy Roosevelt president. Strong progressive. a fighter for progressive values. To make their case and stand by it.

@mrx00666 I agree. And I also think he'll have a better chance at being more progressive if the public will give him a congress that will work with him. I know he had that in year one, but he was a rookie then. I know it's likely not to be any different, but I bet that since he won't be worried about reelection again, and has some experience now that he didn't, maybe he'll do a little better in the sequel. We'll see.
