I LOVE this film.

It's quite funny: If you have ever read the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, you will know that West is described as having Blonde hair but, in the film he has dark hair and personally i can't imagine him as a blonde and whenever i read the story now, i picture Jeffrey Combs whenever West is mentioned, it is slightly confusing.

@ebenezerhoary I'd disagree with that, Romero's Day of the Dead was released the same year as Re-Animator and is equally, if not more, explicitly gory.Certainly Tom Savini's splatter FX were a lot more convincing than those in Re-Animator.I do love Re-Animator though!

This, is the greatest horror movie. H.p. Lovecraft had written so many stories beside "Re-Animator". Obviously Re-Animator was the best. Very bloody, Frightening and shocking. One of my favorite movies, beside John Carpenters "The Thing". There is supposed to be a 4th movie in the series coming out in time. "House of Re-animator!"

It has been among my favorites for some time.

The film is based on the short story "Herbert West,Re-animator",written by H.P. Lovecraft.

If you enjoy films with good helpings of gore and black humor, you'll love this one.

hmm. I'll look it up. I had always passed this up in the past, because of the name, Re-Animator. Sounded like Toy Story or something... ha. A bit surprised to know it's actually a horror film. Never read the short story.
