you people are discusting! CRUEL!!!! i have 3 quails in my avery and they are the sweetest little creatures. How could you be so bloody CRUEL! im glad i live in Australia we care for our animals no matter if they are great or small. OMG and those poor little dogs! thats so mean to put them in those cages. Be a real human being!! You dont deserve to have those dogs! the poor babies!! My love goes to those poor animals that are in your hands. SHAME ON YOU!!
Did some quail hunting today. Maybe walked 15 km for 4 quails. But its part of the fun, scouting looking searching. Sending your dogs in to different places. Im not gonna say your a lazy dick like the rest is doing caus your prob not, but i think this way is a lot less fun.
@LAMBORGHINI748596 I've heard many different perspectives of how people hunt and realize that everyone does it differently. These dogs are "world class". Google "wild bird hunting" and the #1 link is Mitch Hurt's website. This is who we always use to guide our hunts. Look up channel "wildbirdhunting" on YouTube and you'll see nearly 50 videos of Mitch's dogs. World class.
@dennisbaldwin when i say world class i mean dogs that you have trained your self iv seen dogs that hunt hours with no rest and no other dogs to take their place we usually hunt 2 or 3 dogs for like 2 hours with no rest. and we dont throw our dogs into the truck when were done
@dennisbaldwin Well, Dennis, you have to expect some armchair expert to tell you how much better they could have done and everything you did wrong. With 60 years of bird hunting behind me, I can't find anything wrong myself... except the "RADAR." Which looks more like a radio tracking receiver to find which direction to look for wide ranging dogs in heavy cover. If you ever been there you know how valuable it would be.
Looks like a class act to me and dogs that make the day.
@LAMBORGHINI748596 hey dumbass, the dogs have collars with beacons on them, they use that radar thing to find the dogs. and bull, theres no such thing as a "world class dog" you could pay $50,000 for a dog and it may not do its job correctly. and the reason they use those collars on dogs is because who wants to loose their very expensive dog that they put so much time into. now get your city slicker ass off this great video and actually learn how to hunt. fucking city slickers. great video man!!
@LAMBORGHINI748596 nothing wrong with hunting with dogs?? and the truck.. all that means is u can cover more ground quicker. but i do agree the radar is lame. but they are doing some real hunting. you go hunt quail on foot. lol, they are FAST !! esp when they run on the ground, trucks make it easier to chase
People rid wagons all the time on huge quail hunts. This is how old time people used to do, people ride jeeps to cover lots of ground. if you want to walk 10 or 15 miles + just to be a "real" hunter than fine. There is nothing wrong with the way they are doing this
@Mr1deerslayer The pursuit still exists regardless of how you get to point A from point B. There's still a lot of "ground time" to flush the coveys and mark them down. Obviously, there's not one way to hunt so I can understand your perspective. Feel free to post a video response of how you do it.
@christianz2010 This video wasn't posted to depict "authentic" hunting. This is a series of clips from our south Texas family hunt that we do once/yr. I'm not looking to be authentic. Just happy to get outside and enjoy time with friends and family.
You need to do some real hunting. Without a car. Or loads of technology. With the decency to pat your hardworking dog on the head instead of just grabbing him by his neck and throwing him in the cage. Real hunting is when you track your game, and earn it, and eat it. This type of hunting gives hunters a bad name. If it takes you that much technology and that many missed shots to bag a bird, just go get a Purdue roaster. Or get a chicken sandwich at McDonalds & eat it in your truck.
@gblu25 The dog handling was done by Mitch Hurt and he's one of the best out there. He treats all his dogs with respect and trains them well. Unfortunately you don't get to see that in this video. Check out his YouTube page youtube.com/user/wildbirdhunting
You talk if there's one right way to hunt. If so, then post a video and enlighten us. Quail hunting for our family is all about spending time together and maybe we get a bird here or there. It's not about "bagging" a ton of birds.
@gblu25 These dogs are not pets. They live to hunt birds, and that is it. Have you ever tried to have a pointer as a pet? not the best pet. All they care about is chasing birds and other small animals. Besides, during the hunt, you usually dont pet your dog, thats for later on after the night settles down. Imagine a police dog. You ever see them get loved on while on the job? No. It keeps them focussed on the game, and not the affection of the owner.
@willdog3 Pointer? Yes I have. But my English setter trained her (OK. She trained me too.) and she was a sweetheart, just like the setter. In the house or backyard both of them thought the reason I slowed down or stopped was to pet them. Once in the field, they didn't even know me. I couldn't have petted either of them had my life depended on it. Their focus on finding birds was amazingly intense. Most of the fun of hunting was seeing the dogs in almost intoxicating joy.
@gblu25 You need to do some real hunting. Without a car. Or loads of technology. I am so lucky to have a dog that is an excellent bird dog and instinctively stays w/in range, points, flushes and retrieves. I never taught her how to do this and now that I am getting into bird hunting -- she is perfect for the job! She is a collie x spaniel x whippet. I rescued her from a kill shelter. Excellent guard dog too - and my best buddy!
I do a lot of duck and pheasant hunting and love it, but quail hunting behind a good Shorthair has NO EQUAL! Our quail numbers have been down for several years.
what's the point in hunting a quail? honestly, they are a really tiny bird that can't run fast or can't fly, they can't be that good to eat because they are so tiny. Seems like such a pussy thing to hunt. Must be for pussy's that can't hunt anything else succesfully, like deer or those pain in the ass squirrels. Oh, i can't hit anything else, so i'll hunt a tiny bird that can't fly or run past 3 mph. Pussies. Hunt something worth while like a real man...
@ozzypirate77 Why the hatin bro? Bad day or something? If you think quail can't fly then you must be thinking of an ostrich. Quail can get off the ground like you wouldn't believe. I'm not sure what you hunt dictates what type of man you are.
I don't who told that guy he was a dog handler. All the dogs do is run in straight line when in sight and run off. That's not good dog handling or dog training. The folks that bought this hunt paid too much, and this is from a dog handler/trainer that guides private hunts on a south Texas ranch. If you care about your dogs, you don't want them getting out of sight in south Texas. Too many other critters that can kill or severly injure a good dog.
if the guide got paid that day it was too much, looks like you chased dogs a lot more than qauil. The little girl hunts dead birds better than the dog.
When the dogs is hard to find at a point, you use radars, you find the dog and also the quail- dont you.
