I really love this musical, but I'm disappointed that it seems to be based on the movie and not the book. The whole point is that Maxim shot Rebecca. In the film they changed it so he wouldn't be a murderer, but it still changes the story fundamentally.
I totally agree. It's especially obnoxious because the movie had one reason for its change in plot: film restrictions/censorships. If a character in a movie committed a crime, the laws of the time said he or she had to go to jail/pay some other price for it, and the movie's creators decided it was better that Maxim didn't go to jail, for that would change the plot even more.
The musical obviously doesn't have that restriction, so they've got no excuse!
Weil erstmal die Erben von Daphne du Maurier überzeugt werden mussten und Rebecca ursprünglich auch ins West End kommen sollte. Es gibt ne komplette Demo-CD mit 20 Songs, auch ein paar von Uwe (dass du das nicht weißt, wo du ihn doch seit über zwei Jahren privat so gut kennst... :-P)
ich geh mal davon aus, dass rebecca an den broadway soll un darum mit der deutschen cast die demoversionen auf englisch aufgenommen wurde um die drüben zu überzeugen :P
Also sag mal, die Erklärung steht da doch schon seit 4 Monaten! Die Erben von Daphne du Maurier mussten überzeugt werden, um die Rechte an Rebecca zu übergeben und das Musical war für das West End geplant. Deshalb: Englische Demo. Broadway war damals nichtmal angedacht, das ist ewig her! Das war zu Eli-Essen-Zeiten! Deshalb singt auch die ganze Cast von da die Lieder, also Uwe, Pia, Maike, Michael, André, ...
Das ist wirklich cool und Uwe ist wirklich unglaublich gut aber das deutsche finde ich irgendwie besser.
