how much are grey bamboo sharks? sharks are hard to get a hold of here but not illegal in my state just having a hard time deciding on what kind to get but im def looking more into bamboo sharks
hey how much did you buy your tank for because this person is selling a 220 gallon pentagon tank for 780 in my area with a really cool stand and canopy made out of tiles. and and skimmer and pump
@jarederajarederaj I spent too much for my setup. I bought all new and custom so the tank was $1500 and the tank canopy combo I had a cabinet maker make for me on his spare time for about $900. That's not including the life support system for the tank (pumps, sumps, lights, protien skimmers, etc.) $780 is a good price if the tank is not leaking.
nice tank man, how big is that shark, my brown banned is 10- 20 inches i haven't measured him lately, also what other animals are in the tank, I saw some chromis and the sailfine but what else is in that tank
The difference between the two is about 10" the Greys max out at about 30 inches and the black or brown banded grow to about 42 inches. Greys are also a little lighter, they keep a faint stripe as they age and there pectoral fins are more rounded than a black or brown banded
For filtration all I use is a 30 gallon sump, with a filter sock and an RPS 4000 protein skimmer. Change out the sock twice a week and every 6 weeks do about a 75 gallon water change. Your water should be fine as long as you check your nitrate levels about the same time you change out your filter socks
For lights I am using about 10ft of actinics, 2ft of white light and 1 14K metal halide. The fluorecents run 16 hours a day and the halide runs 7 hours
Used polycarbonate (bullet proof glass) for the rock work. You just take 3/4" rod and chemically weld it to some 1/4" plate and take your biggest rock pieces and drill a 3/4" hole through the rock and then hang it. The rest of the rock is just placed.
Tank Update: The grey Bamboo is still doing well in the tank. He is about 24" now. The tank mate that did not survive was the shrimp. I guess I took too long to feed the shark one night. I got rid of the chromis because they were just too aggressive and would bother the angel, trigger, and the sailfin. My sailfin and angel do a good job of controlling the algae in the tank. I am still using about 10ft of blue actinics, 2ft of cool white and one 250W 14K halide.
Wow.. I am really impressed. He is really active but not in a distressed bad way. Your rock work is really impressive too, did you have to attack the rocks to get it to look that way or just stack them? And how do you keep a shrimp in there with the trigger and shark? Also your water is pristine heh. I am making a saltwater tank for my son soon. Could you tell me what systems you used because you water looks very clear.
The tang gets all the algae from the rock and the walls, but I have to occasionally stir up the sand, but I just recently took out all my sand and plan on replacing it with larger grain sand because the sugar fine sand stays suspended for too long and kills my purple and pink coraline algae
He's not more maintenance than the tank. As long as the water parameters are good then you only need to feed him every other day. The rest of the time is just watching him swim.
@KingLe0nidas07 the grey bamboo sharks are mostly captured from the wild and not captive bred like the brown banded sharks...if you do really want a grey bamboo shark i suggest you find out where they came from first because many fish places get their marine fish from philippines which use cyanide(a deadly poison) to catch their fish
hi. my banded shark hatched about a week ago. ive tried to feed it but doesnt want to eat. ive tried sardines, and mysiss shrimp, but it still doesnt want to eat it. can u tell me what it is that u feed your banded shark?
I never hatced this guy. He came to me at about 7inches so pretty young. I do know that a newly hatched banded shark will still be living off the yolk sac that was in the egg with it. A week to two is not uncomon for not eating, but after that I would try a couple drops of Kent Garlic extreme on a couple pieces of fresh squid or ocean shrimp from the grocery store and he/she should start eating. Good luck

Cool! Next time you'll have to narrate it. Or put some music in the background.
