R.I.P Richard Wright, we will always listen to your music.

  • All you have to do to join the Army of L.O.V.E is . . .

  • Will you join Michael and I in The Army of L.O.V.E?

  • This song reminded me of Careful With That Axe, Eugene.

  • can a drummer/better-than-me-at-exact-rhythm tell me what count his delay is on, cause its not the 4/4 quarter note, nor half, sounds like a 1.5 (quarter + eigth) but then again not exactly, thanks. maybe it is just a quarter? shit.

  • WHAT A LAME BASSIST

  • @MortifiedPenguin0319 His name is guy Pratt. He's actually pretty cool if you wanna look him up... does stand up too.

  • DAVID GILMOUR FOREVER brasillll s2

  • As always, Rick is the master of communication. His playing to music going on around him is like a conversation between two lovers. Hard to believe this was just a jam.

  • I don't think there are two musicians that ever listened to each other as closely as they did.

  • Maestro!!!!

  • this kind of makes me think this piece right here would be a SOYCD part 10-14 or something!

  • il es mignon David avec ses lunettes!

  • Sir Gilmour knows how to write music.

He gets all of his friends together someone starts playing something. Nothing scripted, pure music from the soul.

Not only that, but the fond memories that are made from being with your longtime friends. Legends never die.

  • want this to keep going and going

  • what about Rick's performance' GREAT!!!

  • I totally agree, Dave is the guitar player of this Universe!

  • I totally agree, Dave is the player of this Universe!

  • These barn jams are off the David Gilmour "Live in Gdansk" album (disc 4)

  • Pink Floyd meets Boards of Canada...

  • @ChablesMan I just looked them up, holy shit.

  • @Hogweed11 Good ambient music, am I right?

  • what an awesome jam.. barn and setup.... this just smacks of that unmissable floyd sound and flow.... more more more please!!!

  • do i see a Tonemaster amp???!! That would be super great!!!!

  • @willemkerpel1 I think it is! that's a rare fckin great amp

  • my fav guitar player

  • holy CRAP ...got to have a Barn Jam CD....

has to come from another planet ..purely not of this world!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone know how much delay you think gilmour is using?

  • @AppleChef22 about 600ms or so i thing.

  • @AppleChef22 about 600ms or so i think.

  • watch this and then tell me any metal dickhead is better. it's not about speed or technique. it is about feeling, heart and soul.

but you gotta love rick (r.i.p.), guy and the drummer (don't know him) as well. they make everything sound so complete.

it is very much perfect this piece of music.

  • I like the little 'Josie' by Steely Dan in the end bass line.

    Guy Pratt knows...

  • FOR GUITAR PLAYERS.: Can someone help me with the chord progreesion of it..i am ok with the solo..but the rhythm kinda confuses me... cheers

  • @human20freedom i've learned to play by my self, but i can tell you this, first A string then 12th fret harmonics( b g d ) , then b g d strings on the 10th, then the same on the 8th, 7th and 5th, use only that since you said that the solo part wasn't an issue. try it and let me know (:

  • wondered why dave made no albums for so many years been busy ridin polly lucky old sod

  • This is the fattest, smoothest music around!

Please Sir David don't ever stop!

You bring us to a better place.

    Thanks

  • I do this all the time, does anyone know David Gilmour?

  • i wish i could get this for my ipod in 256kbps

  • @MrStropparo it's on the Live in Gdańsk DVD

  • me and my mates met guy in 1990 in bootle reverberations had few drinks with him he was still in awe of playing with floyd.told us couple of tour stories and drew a large beard and pair of specs on my sleeping drunk mate with permanent marker woke him up put him on bus home lol .thnx for the music the shed lads

  • the most under appreciated blues guitarist ever. Dave can play it.

  • @slobnoxious ahahaha i think he's plenty appreciated dude,guitar god gilmour

  • @enigma81581 Maybe you missed my point. No doubt Dave is a guitar legend, but he is not considered an accomplished blues musician as much as he should be.

  • Starts off very jazzy, great moment. Never seen this one, Sad for a moment there, seeing Rick... Thanks for posting.

  • are there any backing tracks like this?

  • @DonConstantinos yea u can search for this backing track on google, ive found it on there

  • any link please ? :)

  • @DonConstantinos yea, for some reason i cant past the link in a comment, send me a private message and ill give u it

  • Whatever forces brought Guy Pratt to David Gilmour really was the equivalent of Pratt winning the lottery. He's a great musician/bassist, but think of how much his life changed by getting to play with one of the greatest guitarist/singer of all time for a 15 year span (and counting)..

  • @Cheeko1111

The force was Rick Wright's daughter in the long run ;)

Read Mark Blake's book about the Floyd if you haven't... best read in ages

  • It simply doesn't get any better than this. Not just musically, but in general. This is heaven. David and Rick forever <3<3<3

  • I love this tune. This would have made a great track for a Pink Floyd album. Although Nick Mason's drums aren't here, David Gilmour and Rick Wright were the Pink Floyd sound. The only way one could get audio of this (not counting dubbing audio from DVD to CD-R) was to buy the limited edition 5-LP box of Live in Gdansk. Shame the LP went out of print quick but glad I have the 3-CD/2-DVD box which is only available in the US via Best Buy. $50 well spent IMHO!

  • So beautiful!

  • I'd love a whole album with stuff like this one. But I know without Rick it's impossible...

  • ...i believe it too

  • This is the best thing from the pink planet in awhile!!

  • I have a question.

What does "barn jam 121" means? Does it means that they are more than 121 jams or what? And, in that, case, where can I find the others? (they aren´t in youtube)

  • According to DG, there are over 200 jams recorded !

  • RIP Rick - miss you

  • Looks like a silvertone amp at :30

  • Pure Heaven........ What more can you say.

  • Some artists, when they win and reach the top, can afford to do what you want, when they are not obeying standard industry. Gilmour and Wright, and friends, playing what they want, how they want and the way they want. This is the smell of freedom. Too bad Michael Jackson did not live well, to enjoy your old age, playing and doing what he wanted. Tanks GILMOUR - From: Vadilson Madureira - Belo Horizonte City - BRAZIL

  • Musicians getting off on their contributions to a pieceis the most rewarding experience most lay persons will never appreciate or experience

  • . .yes it truly is. . .Angie and I would play for a while and sometimes . . just magic. .. best feeling in the world. . .

  • rick and david

two different music organs on one mind.

  • what a tone! Amazing

  • i have this song in high quality

  • anywhere i can get this backing track?

  • try to type on google download mp3 from youtube ;)

  • He leaves the tones with perfect room to be expressed in a fantastic way. I love his playing.

  • what the hell!!! fuckin amazing!!! dave and rick were like brothers and we can see it on these songs!!!

  • The best among the bests !

  • David Gilmour is my hero

  • A melhor de todas as Jams. Tinha que ser do mestre da melodia!!

  • I just ordered the 5 disc version of live in gdansk, so happy I did because i get all of this on there! I cannot wait, Gilmour is my god!

  • I'd like to hear Gilmour make a solo album with this kind of sound.

  • @Hogweed11

Amen! I'm hoping we get at least one more album out of him... I just wonder if his creative spirit is too dampened from the passing of Wright.. as I said before they fed off of each other so much.. his speech about how much it saddens him that there are songs he can't play without him anymore (so f-ing touching).. I just hope he has it in him to continue to bless the world with his voice (both metaphorically and literally)

  • @Hogweed11

full album of this would be on the top of my list

    call it Chillmour

  • @HeavyMagic01 Lol thats great. Chillmore

  • @HeavyMagic01 Lol thats great!! Chillmour

  • @HeavyMagic01 Gilmour ChillMore

  • @Hogweed11 We all would. :)

  • looks like silvertone or ampeg amp miked

  • God, what a cool man!

  • Fucking amazing. So wish I could play as good as that. Every time im online I always listen to this chills me out.

  • absolutely heavenly.... wish he released all these barn jams as a new box set

  • Prendi il suono della chitarra di Gilmour uniscilo a quello delle tastiere di Wright e avrai il suono perfetto.

  • All those guitars he has...

  • I'd give almost anything for a rotating speaker set up like that.. sounds so nice....

  • Damn.. brings tears to my eyes to see these two, best of friends.. doing what they luv most, playing together still after sooo many years...probably knowing how badly Rick was off...still amazingly so creative.... I cant imagine the pain of this kind of loss..Rick and Dave have been souls in a great journey for so long....God speed Rick.. Awsome song... amazing Jam.

  • Rick seem to be enjoying i think its like his last few months before he left all of us. He was the best of all

  • Please put these jams together on a new album! Maybe a tribute to Rick or something like that! This song is bad ass for just making it up as you go.

  • Theres so much going on here.. a Strat that has been in the same hands for decades..fingers that have shaped its tone, the rotating speakers of 30+ years ago..pedals that are decades old.. and a fretting style that cant be copied no matter how close you get...I just wish some people could realize the melding of things that your watching that only happens so very rarely. That Strat wouldnt sound the same in another pair of hands.. theres decades of relationship going on here.

  • I'm 40 years old, of all the instrumentals I have heard, this is now my favorite.

  • so fuckin' AWESOME!!!

  • My gosh this is really mint! They should release these jams as a new album!

  • He is damn good in impro

  • most legendary strat of all time

  • God...damn.

  • Well said. LOL

I am convinced that there is no one out there who can play the guitar the way he does it. Everyone has personal taste and there are a lot of great players out there aside from him, but the way he plays.....the sound he creates.....he's the only one that can do it. No one can copy the Gilmour sound. Even if you picked up that same guitar, used the same modifications, the same amps/speakers.....it wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be his hands, his heart or his soul.

  • @feverspell

    Imitated but never duplicated

  • The timbre of this piece is incredible! They really bring out the classic Floyd on this one.

  • for me this is one of the best instrumental song ever composed!!! of course it's composed by one of the greatest david gilmour helped by the great richard wright... they were really friends and they had great musical feeling...

I THINK THAT PINK FLOYD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT RICK... he will be missed by every pink floyd's fan...

RICK AND SYD WE MISS YOU

  • I would spend all I got just to watch these guys jamming. They generate an astounding atmosphere. This barn is a beautiful place to do it. Maybe they just did this jam between tea time and lunch? ;)

Couldn't stop listening to it over and over again! :)

  • I love this. His tone is so amazing. For some reason I feel like listening to 'Obscured by Clouds' now.

  • Fantastic jam Gilmours the man

  • Flavouful.

  • I love this Jam, it is to bad it did'nt and up on any album or, On an Island or something. They jam so damn great together, and flawless. RIP IN PEACE RICHARD :(

  • when is this recorded?

  • From Gilmour's Web Site: Barn Jams 2007 (previously unreleased), recorded live in the UK, January 2007. Barn Jam 166 Barn Jam 192 Barn Jam 121 Filming Directed by Gavin Elder. 'Barn Jam' Personnel David Gilmour: Guitar/Drums Richard Wright: Keyboards Guy Pratt: Bass/Guitar Steve DiStanislao: Drums/Bass
  • thanks for the information :)

  • i think also is playing guitar Phil manzanera

  • If I had to choose between being there, playng with Dave and Rick, and 1.000.000 dollars, i would choose the first option! What a delite!

    Rick is so lovely!

  • man, what a sound. its so david gilmourish and yet you can hear old pink floyd in there as well with richard on keys...

    supurb

  • This DVD version is tough to find here in Colombia..It's well worth the wait, and thank you for posting it. Hope that I may find it, eventually!!

  • The best band Gilmour ever constructed for his solo career, theres a beautiful harmony and workmanship here that gives me shivers and hope for another solo album. I love David Gilmour and everything he stands for,a musical genius and god! I repact him more than any person

  • This sounds really fantastic

  • howabout you go and buy it you tight wad

  • I second that. well worth the $30 or $40.

  • I got the 3-CD/2-DVD box set version of Live in Gdansk which was only sold at Best Buy here in the US. I paid $50 for it. Great box set and awesome purchase I must hasten to add but at the same time, it's sadly Rick Wright's swan song (God bless him and may he Rest In Peace). This piece of music could've been the music destined for a Pink Floyd reunion album, either that or another David Gilmour solo effort. David and Rick were the musical heart and soul of PF. PF ended with Rick's death.

  • I've been waiting for some time for someone to upload this one. Great piece of work. Can you upload the other 2 versions of barn jam from the Gdansk DVD?
