I wish they would just admit that they took T-Rex's song and made their own interpolation of it. Because this is a great tune and they play the hell out of it. If they had admitted what they did from the beginning, noone would care.
For comparison, look at how Manfried Mann's Earth Band revised Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" in a way that was a huge success. Or how the Ramones turned Tom Waits' "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" into their own skewered punk classic.

Yes that's true, but I was talking about electric guitar. And no, I wouldn't re-use the riff from WOL or OTHAFA, because they are't generic blues riffs. The riff Oasis supposedly stole was pretty much a generic one, but slight variation. They changed a lot so I wouldn't even count it as 'stealing'. It's like Jimmy Page copying "Dazed and Confused", the bass line and title are same, but he changed everything else. Do you go to that video and blast him for stealing?

Guitar driven rock music did go away, not completely obviously but it did disappear from the mainstream culture for about 10 years. They're not ridiculous at all, they merely differ from yours (which don't sound too clever themselves). I never said they were the same, I said the one riff was similar, read properly.

Yes that's true, but I was talking about electric guitar. And no, I wouldn't re-use the riff from WOL or OTHAFA, because they are't generic blues riffs. The riff Oasis supposedly stole was pretty much a generic one, but slight variation. They changed a lot so I wouldn't even count it as 'stealing'. It's like Jimmy Page copying "Dazed and Confused", the bass line and title are same, but he changed everything else. Do you go to that video and blast him for stealing?
