im a proud member of the lobo band now and i think we still are good. even though our band is like real small now, we still going to be known as the big green marching machine.
I want to scream about those lines...got angry goosebumps, actually. Respect and discipline was on a downslope in 2001, but tanked after 2003. Mr. Durham was good at what he did and I wish he got more leeway to keep his organization in check. All that said, great memories were made marching with Mean Green :)
This is an AWSOME drill...of course nothing can compare to Kunkel's Bands, but this is REALLY good!! Keep up the PRIDE and TRADITION Big Green Marching Machine!!!!!!!!
this comment is utterly ridiculous and untrue..someone who is still in high school should not be making comments about the talent of their band...especially when the band was much better than it has been in a few years this year..i'm sure mr. robinett would not appreciate a student of the BGMM saying somethinglike that..i know Harvey D. wouldnt
The last truly great band Durham directed was in 2004. After that year, the talent was there, the respect and pride wasn't. I believe any of the director's, especially Mr. Durham would say the same thing. 2008 was the worst band I've ever seen Longview field, imho. 2009 was a lot better. It wasn't as big, but sounded huge because everyone actually played, which Longview has had a problem with for several years.
I played tuba in the Lobo band from 03-07 marching seasons. I agree that 04 was a good year for us. But I think the 05 year was better..We were huge that year with 23 tubas. Our best years when i was there was 04 and 07. In 04 we were smaller but had a lot of high quality musicans and put out a lot of sound. The pride and respect from some of the students started going downhill in 06 but went back up in 07, Durham had a lot to do with that by kicking out lots of people with bad attitudes
The band's marching is outstanding but they are playing too hard. The brass doesn't sound controled and they are badly out of tune. The woodwinds, when I could hear them, were excellent though.
the only time we tuned the entire marching season was right before we went on the field at contest, so we were used to hearing and playing out of tune
Fun to watch the traditional Marching Band again. I grew up with Drum Corps style and would have loved to at least try your style. Continual motion and no real stops in the music. WONDERFUL!
