Yes, Portland is expensive in every aspect (but they do have the max). Many people i know live just outside, north in the state of Washington but though it's less expensive there--it isn't if you own a car or two (for they have a "wheel tax").

Oregon is becoming overpopulated. The I-5 interstate is the worst thing to have happened to Oregon in the last 50 years. Also the lack of any population control is ruining Oregon! How would you feel if you couldn't afford to buy a home in your hometown due to outside interests buying up everything?

I have to say that Portland has its ups and downs. The down side is schools suck (no money going towards them), politicans scandles, and crazy ppl who try to blow up ppl at christmas time.

The ups are we have a pro scoccer team that just beat the undefeated LA, great area of downtown for shopping, 2nd greenest city in the world, and a great Rose parade every summer.

How can you tell if you're welcome anywhere? Or not welcome? You meet a few good people, and the rest of them are people who walk around in their own universe like me. Is there any more to that?? You have this older generation that tries to be like the elders of 30 years ago but has no clue, so they are friendly but really no fun to converse with, but somehow feel they should anyways. Mostly white. I like every city. I don't need everyone to welcome me. Or to like me. a few here and there.

I don't know why portland costs so much. I mean, I like the city but really, there isn't much to do in the city. you have to go elsewhere. I mean, there are a lot of things to do away from the city, you can go camping, you go to seattle, you can go snowboarding, etc etc etc. but anyway point is that we get no tourist attractions and it pisses me off beacuse seattle gets them all and then I get this attitude sometimes from seatle ppl, like they are so much better than us. anyway thats my rant
