  • The best Song of the Beatles........

  • id love to have the music to this song

  • Two people need to get a day in a life!!!!Pax to all from 73soulboy.Xxx.

  • Perhaps their best song, and my personal favorite.

  • the beatles are eternaly cool,.krishna.bless them,..

  • it really sounds like "never to see any other way" on the end loop, absolutely brilliant

  • Whoever remastered this sucks. It sounds as though a child is messing about with the the panning function of a car radio.

  • @eza27 Or maybe you can stop living in the past with Mono and move onto the new and better Stereo.

  • @eza27 Actually you're right about the panning being far from perfect - but this is a relic of the 60's stereo version when people had to literally push sliders to change the balance of the track - not something that's been done in the 2000's. All they did with this remaster was clean the recording up

  • 1967 was such a great year for psychedelic rock.

  • day after day alone on the hill " E chord" oh ok cool the radio said it I just sais what they said . thanks for the correction - now I can die in peace knowing that lol

  • the radio got wrong then I just reponded to what they had said

  • The Beatles WILL always live in my heart and memory.

  • this sounds awful you cant even hear the singing i hate the stereo remasters

  • @BigRedCotter If you cant hear the singing your headphones are fucked or your just deaf

  • @yetimichael im not using headphones i have a stereo, its really nice so its definitely not the stereo. mono sounds way better for this song

  • 5:12 wtf?

  • @FuckinGoodVibrations These strange sounds are not part of "A Day in the Life." It is called "Sgt. Pepper's Inner Groove." If you own any LPs, you'd understand. A lot of the old turntables did not pick up the needle automatically after the last song on the side had played. The needle would slide over and make an annoying noise until you picked it up and placed it back on the holder. The Beatles put this weird recording on the inner groove so it played continuously until the needle was moved

  • @cosybully thanks! long life the beatles!

  • This song was great, then I took acid. 8)whoooooaz.

  • Hey, Beatle-People, a QUESTION: I've read that Paul put in at 5:08 to 5:12 a hypersonic dog whistle sound for his sheepdog, Marha (my dear...). On this recording, I can actually hear it if I turn the volume up. Did the remastering make it lower? Do I have bizarre hearing? Can anybody else hear it? Did anyone know the Monkees did the same thing on "Special Announcement" from the Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones album? And what DID the Beatles call their haircuts? : )

  • @DannyLamb613 i DID hear that and idk why it was put there so eh

  • if the world didnt have this ...how fucked would it be

  • Love the psychelelic years!

  • It says "remastered" but it sounds suspiciously like there was some remixing going on, too. That's rarely a good idea; it makes the original classics different, not better.

  • I love the way John sings this song and how he goes into this weird instrument mixture and Paul comes in with a normal catchy tune. but the very much poser Rebecca Black had a song called Friday just like Pauls verse. what a skunk bag.! I would sue.

  • there isn't a better song to remaster.

  • that last 25 seconds makes me want to scratch my brains out.

    nevacoushicalifogelbrein!!!!

sounds like the dutch "(never) kus dat kale vogelbrein":

never kiss that bold bird brain!

it makes me want to scratch out my brains, but not nearly as bad as when I listen revolution 9

  • @PrimaPunchy The last 25 seconds of the song sounds like she is saying "Never to see any other way" although the way part sounds cut off before the looped it again.

  • timeless

  • 1:55 is best listened too while smoking a burber...

  • Do y'all realize that, in order to record that last piano chord, they had mikes on 6 or 7 different pianos? On cue, the 4 Beatles plus George Martin and a couple of others hammered and held that last E chord and they let it ring..

  • @MRayRox It was five of them. John, Paul, Ringo and Mal Evan on three pianos and George Martin on a harmonium. Geoff Emerick gradually turned up the recording levels as the chord faded to sustain it further. In total, the sound lasted 40 seconds. My guess is that George Martin's harmonium was lowest in the mix.

  • The ending, for those of you who don't know, (which is totally fine!) is actually the rewinding of the record. The Beatles are just so epic they didn't want it taken out. Weird, yes. But it made them so unique. Another reason to love them. Same with the end of Abbey Road. The "unfinished song" :)

  • The ending, for those of you don't know, (which is totally fine!) is just something The Beatles did often :P They do it at the end of Abbey Road as well. Its weird, but it made them so different than any other band, which I love.

  • The original was perfect and cannot be improved. please listen to the original. This is like a prog rock hybrid.

You cannot take something from one era and update it.

It misses the point and never, ever improves it.

  • I am a lucky man

  • omg the ending scared the crap outa me! wasn't ready for that! haha

  • R.I.P McCartney. :(

  • @iGazlene ? McCartney's not dead :s

  • @iGazlene fail ;)

  • @FuckStaub hahahah...

  • @iGazlene Paul McCartney is still very much alive!

  • @iGazlene He's not dead.

  • @lennonfn2010 Is a theory, says Paul and was replaced by another similar person

  • @iGazlene It's a conspiracy theory. There is absolutely no way Paul McCartney could have died and it NOT made the news. If you are citing that ridiculous "Last Testament of George Harrison" crap, then you need to get your head out of your ass. Anyone who thinks that is George Harrison is truly stupid. No, Macca is still alive and well.

  • That part at the end scares me. I don't remember it being there in the original version.

  • @geoandbenji It was :D

  • A friend of mine was listening to this song on acid and the news was on and said that John Lennon was shot the same time that first line come on thats some spooky stuff man

  • These guys were light years ahead of their time.

  • @76juno True, even the generation that is going to come ten generations from now will not be able to make a piece of music as unique as this one.

  • @76juno yeah, whenever I hear a beatles song it doesnt sound old to me.

  • @76juno in words and music at this age? genuis, more than lightyears.Nothing compares. I love the Beatles.

  • @76juno

Yes, and you made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, right? You can't use a unit of distance to measure time!

  • @76juno

The sad thing is most modern music is light years behind them!

  • how could anyone dislike this?

  • legendary is right ^_^

  • Wouldn't this be wonderful to hear as you arrive at the gates of heaven?

  • i was online somewhere once and someone posted a thread asking what the best song ever was. and without a seconds worth of thought this is the absolute first song that came into my mind. of all the great bands and all the great songs and all the great albums and all the styles and decades and genres a day in the life was my absolute first thought. and every time i hear that ahhhhahhahhahh after i wnet into a dream it brings tears to my eyes, so beautiful and melancholy.

  • "...found my way upstairs and had a smoke. Somebody spoke and I went into a dream....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........."

Jesus. When someone finds a better few lines (and delivery) in rock and roll music, let me know. Sheer genius.

  • @dcanjura umm...dude...Paul is still alive...George Harrison and John Lennon are the only two Beatles member who have died. Paul McCartney and Ringo Star are still alive. Oh and by the way...you're comment made no sense...

  • in the alum its said to describe pauls death.in 1966 they stoped touring, its saidbecase of pauls death, almost every body in the cover died at a young age.the song rita its said that she hicthedhiked with paul, she got crazy.and this song explains what happened next.in fixing a hole is about the giant gash on pauls head .john said"he blew his minds out in a car"their fixing the hole.pauls car in 1966 was a "silver hammer"the person last name in the other car was maxwells.number9 backwords explains

  • @dcanjura123 None of what you say here [or anywhere else on YouTube concerning your 'Paul is dead' gibberish] has any basis in fact, reality, truth or sense. Not one thing. Paul McCartney is alive. You are a brain dead delusional off his medication. Get some help. Soon.

  • @Harvey3rdman man shut the fuck up,fist get some rehabe.2 be opened minded.3stop being a total ingnorant ass hole who concerns over what i type.i guess for you "ingnorace is bliss".idiot Asshole ,keep living your pesky worthless little life.

  • @dcanjura123 I'll stop as soon as you give up on your idiotic paranoid theory that Paul is dead. He isn't. He is alive and well and my daughter went to CA to see him last year.

And just a thought: If my life is so worthless and I'm such an "ingnorant ass hole" [sic], as you so gracefully put it, why are you so upset?

That would be because my truth is stomping all over your dumb, blind, ignorant [that's how you spell it], delusional and paranoid 'theory' with truth and logic.

  • @Harvey3rdman hey go to the penny lane song and solve my questions civily

  • @dcanjura123 You're not exactly civil, either, you foolish fool. All of that is conspiracist speculation, and doesn't have any basis in reality.

  • @dcanjura123 Did you eat lead paint chips as a kid, because what you said was utterly nonsensical

  • I love this song! it's so cool:)

  • scilence the song is on

  • This is the greatest song of all time

  • I drive a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier 4-door, and the first tune who plays in my car, all window opend, volume at 100%... 45 kilometers per hours, The Beatles - A Day In The Life :) YES!!!! This tune is Heaven :)

  • @karen0skool OMG i drive a 99 TWO door

but loveeee turning up the beatles in that badboy

  • bw 3 weeks ago and now someone broke up with their girlfriend and took it out on the dislike button. that's unfair and should be corrected.

  • The Beatles

    Amen

  • Beatles forever!!

  • This song is so fucking amazing!!!!

  • really - some guy on one of those music trivia questions on an oldies program said it was a G-chord thanks for the correction. lol

  • what's that thing at the end of the song?

  • 0 dislikes. Just the way this song deserves it!

    This is just awesome!

  • It would have been better if they dropped the mantra at the end for the remaster. That should only exist in the run out grooves of vinyl. If it wasn't for the run out groove sounding awful after the pianos ring out, it wouldn't be there at all.

  • I hope this is what music sounds like in heaven.

  • @skima744 Love this comment!!!!!!!

  • @skima744

    I agree,

    Be Blessed.

  • This is probably cleaner than the original source tape now. I bet anything they even eliminated tape hiss. The result is it's so clean you can hear stuff in there I don't know they intended to be heard. I bet they had to toss a coin in the studio wondering about some of those things, whether the Beatles intended that to be heard or not. What could the technicians do, call McCartney every 10 seconds and ask him? I know I just heard stuff I never heard before, yet this is only YouTube quality

  • the longest G chord in music history awesome

  • @567wolfen its actually and E chord at the end

  • the longest G chord in music history

  • The last 10 seconds are... interesting

  • @AwkwardPolarBear Those "last 10 seconds" shouldn't even be on here. They weren't a part of this song. Lennon put it on the end of side 2 of the the album as a joke. If you didn't go over and pick up the needle off your turntable, that little bit he stuck on there would play on forever and ever. So to give non-vinyl listeners a taste of it, the record label stuck 10 seconds of it on the CD. I think it may have only been on the British LP's because it definitely wasn't on my US album.

  • Every time I think of John's death I feel depressed and the funny thing is I was born 15 years after....

  • Paul is dead, miss him, miss him, miss him.

  • @albatross7677 paul who????? paul grey from slipknot died, paul from beatkes still alive.

  • @kam17140 i know right

  • @albatross7677 hes alive

  • @albatross7677 paul is still alive

  • Never go see any of the wet

Never goo cee any all the way

Neptune go cee any up the day

  • Beatles=Love

  • Incredible Lyrics. Incredible Music. Indredible Band.

  • Love Paul`s Rickenbacker Bass. What great tone.

  • A Masterpiece from start to finish, the greatest song ever recorded

  • Rest in peace, John. 30 years ago today.

  • I remember Paul saying in an interview that someone pointed out to him that if you play the garbled talking backwards, at the very end of the track, it sounded like they were saying, "We'll fuck you like supermen!" First time Paul had heard of that! They were just putting the end groove together just for giggles! Lol!

  • Beatles forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The remixed version of this song on the "Love" cd is pretty awesome too! I can tell a difference for the better with the remaster version of Revolver, Let It Be, Rubber Soul, and the song "Hey Jude" but honestly I can't tell any difference between this and the 1st cd pressing of St Peppers. They both sound excellent!

  • Forget the fact that they've sold over a billion and a half record and that they had more number one in the USA than any European band in history.

The fact that people still listen to music by the Beatles almost half a century since they split up (when all recording equipment and instruments were primitive and sub-standard) tells me how great they are.

  • After 5:12, it sounds like they're saying, "Never could be any other way". Am I right?

  • This song is stuck in my head. I've watched this video every day for a week.

  • poor george all he got to do on this brilliant song was play maracas :(

  • no dislikes lol if there is any dislikes im gonna clint eastwod you

  • 3:16

i got goosebumps in perfect sync to the horns

  • happy birthday jhon!!!!!

  • You included the original vinyl ending...you ROCK!!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN

  • 1967. Analog. Four-track high fidelity recorder. Masterpiece.

  • @wilberswilbers studer j37 4-track reel-to-reel machine...

    Masterpiece.

  • John's vocals are the scariest. key, inflection, timing. spooky.

  • that noise at the end is pauls dog whistle

  • Is there *anything* better than this ? I mean, good lord, this is 43 years old, and it's as fresh as it's always been. Great art knows no time, no space. This album exists in it's own universe. I love it dearly.

  • @JoshuaTaylor Well said friend! This is just such an inspiring band/album. The experience of honest, beautiful music.

  • @JoshuaTaylor you do realise the 2.22-2.42 lyrics are pretty much te same as the opening to Rebecca Black's Friday?

  • @JoshuaTaylor i was listning to this while on acid in 1994 ....still as amazing today as it always has been - i fully agree ....timeless

  • Comment removed

  • hah! so this is where it all began......turn me on dead man;)

  • why come back as superman they got a life beyond anything and to back it all up the music is animal the decades don,t even matter well stll listen to this in a 100 years

  • Nowtheyknowhowmanyholesittakestofillthe Albert Haaaaaaaaall!

  • @beatlesfan1971 yeah its there, i think i read it somewhere in a book about their songs, or wikipedia i forget but it's there

  • click football icon. With the vuvuzela!! Feel more psychedelic

  • Anyone who prefers this to be "unremastered" ? I think this sounds very crisp but kinda busy because all instruments sound all over the place at the same time. I prefer the original: warm and muddy ;)

Actually I love older music in general because of the warmer sound. It hasnt got to do with vinyl or anything, I think the recording techniques must have been different back then. But it's good to know that many people are very happy with these remastered tracks.

  • when you click on hd, does that improve the sound?

  • John > Paul

  • What is it saying at the very end?

  • @Worldofjon7 i think it says "never to be any other one"

  • @Worldofjon7 "never could be any other way"

  • "Will Paul come back as SuperMan?"

  • did anyone hear a squeak of a chair at 4:52 and a SHHHH right after it?

  • Best song they ever did ... :)

  • @beatle451

    yeah definately

  • sgtpeppers cover creeps me out

bald guy on top left is a devil worshiper...creepy

and hitler was supposed to be in this but some people wouldve found it offensive

  • @diegosantiago1996 supposed to be a grave ,there are all people in the backgronubd who hace died in the car crash etc ,the conspiracy of paul dead ,supposed to be paul buried grave , paul isnt dead tho i dont care what people say about them replacing paul with billy shears , aint true , beatles forever

  • @diegosantiago1996 It's either Anton La Vey or Aleister Crowley. Jimmy Page lives in Aleister Crowley's home... i feel like im "Pop up Video"

  • @soma90405 crowley, and i dont want to get involved with that creepy shit

  • Great memories of listening to this as kids, we used to play the hell out of my mom's album and of course crank up the old console stereo during the "woke up, got out of bed" part. lol good times.

  • Very good one of my best beatle songs john lennon best beatle ever.

  • Just read a news headline saying the Beatles were the TOP SELLING band of the last ten years. AMAZING!

  • @marvy1118 yehh i saw that too, baring in mind they split up 40 years ago thats amazing!

  • no thats john saying,

never could be any other way.

  • never to see any other way

  • in the last part you can hear someone singin in the back "zaranzanzaaan" and its awesome

  • stereo or mono for this song which sounds better for you?

  • just sounds to me like "ABBA GUSEES ANY OTHER WAY!" or something like that lol

  • what the hell is at 5:12 i was listening to that song at night and that went on at 5:12. it fucking scared the wits out of me. Why?

  • Definetly sounds better!

This is truly one of the all time great songs

  • Warmth of vinyl, perfection of digital.

    Well done. Thanks for posting.

  • The Beatles.

  • That is just amazing!! four pianos played at once with only one note at the end of the song. My earphones are small so I had to tuck 'em in to hear what it was supposed to be the conditioning air at the studio after the pianos but I didnt hear anything like that. Those voices at 5:12 have been added by st3volution himself or what?

  • part of the song

  • is it really?

  • Yes, the Beatles did it as kind of a joke. (Look it up on songfacts or wikipedia.)

  • if you play that part backwards some say that the words sound like "Will Paul be back as superman?" call it backmasking. there is much more to the beatles than some people might think!

  • @pianokd11 oh theirs so much more, their actually books on hidden beatles secrets.

  • Actually, there's a third and a fifth in there. At least one piano is playing a full chord. I think they had Ringo just play roots. : )

  • Shivers. Shivers. John's voice just resonates so beautifully. My favorite Beatles' song. The best album ever. The best band ever.

John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Four lads from Liverpool that changed the world.

  • one of the best songs ever recorded!!!

  • Awesome music, i never tire of The Beatles!!
