Sadly, the distance an alien race would have to travel to reach Earth is too great. We may discover an alien civilization some day but we will never and I do mean never meet them in person. The closest solar system to Earth is alpha centauri at about 4 to 5 light years away, our fastest rockets would take 35 thousand years to reach alpha centauri. Even if aliens could travel at the speed of light which is not likely alpha centauri is still 5 years away.

@johshphrd I do not consider paintings and sculptures to be evidence of anything more than the existence of artists. I think if you are being honest with yourself you will see that alien visits are mathematically unlikely to the point of being ridiculous. If I am wrong and aliens have visited then it would not have been a visit it would mean they are here with us now. They would not travel for thousands of years to hover in our atmosphere for a couple minutes only to travel home.

@johshphrd e = mc2 demonstrates the fact that only light can travel at the speed of light. Even if alien technology allows molecules to become light the distances are still too great. So mathematically it is not possible and it would not be a logical choice for them. If we could travel light speed we would send probes to other solar systems but humans would never go. The radar scopes have so many times shown UFOs as clear hits in synchronization with visual confirmation from military and airline pilots.
