best way to learn is start fighting the AI on easy. or do 2v2 and have a good partner that can protect you. thats how i got my girlfriend into it.

as exezelot and krutoypostowoy said your mouse hand should never leave your mouse and yes that means you have to do the pinky and index finger dance to assign your hot keys but its faster and if you get really serious then you may want to invest in some exter equipment like the belken n52te speed pad or a razer naga mouse for the extra buttons and then just adjust your keybinds to use those, but that is advanced stuff.

Listen up, cuteface:

1.hotkeys are for speed. Never ever use your right hand for them.

2.use "grid" hotkeys (found in options)

3.the only hotkeys you'll need until master leage are production (easy grid mode), cntr+numbers for groups and building and "attack move".

4.but i guess u know all this by now ...

great noob friendly vid. Learning how to hotkey units and buildings well will help out tonsss, it takes getting used to but it is really worth it since you will save so much time vs those that do not. Slow and steady wins the race.

I have to say that you're quite cute, especially for a StarCraft gamer! Good luck on your progression of learning the ins and outs of the game. I have a friend who is similar to you when it comes to being a new gamer in StarCraft II, he likes to learn how to use hotkeys because he's aware that it helps a lot when it comes to online matches against other players. lol I love how you say "um" or "eeeuuum" , but as far as the hot keys I find that assigning structures is essential, however learning all the hot keys to build units is, IMO not any faster then clicking with your mouse.

Btw, try playing with the computer in 1v1s, or some match online... it's much better, than the Single player, as the units have different stats in MP and SP... Free guides are also great way to learn :)

oh and after you select your workers, you can right-click on the minerals to have your workers start harvesting, instead of clicking the gather hotkey.

@rikahollings thats actually a pretty good technique at learning hotkeys, just forcing yourself to use evry single hotkey, haha it will always be easier to just decide not to use certain hotkeys later

I usually put the base on 1 as you can hit 1,S alot quicker. I put my ground force on 2/3 wiht air units on 4 and the barrcks on 5, factory on 6 etc. This works great for me. Also try Ctrl+Select 1 unit. IIts sometimes allot easier than selecting a group wiht the mouse
