@DAVIDTV101 I'd go for the fenders now for kick around guitars. There making them cheaper and cheaper (money wise0 but the quality is better and you could try those guitars out at a local store. I got really lucky with this esteban guitar in this review. It still plays well and the action on it is great.
I love mine ! I have always respected esteban talent.
His guitars are just as good. I have play my legend 2009 atleast a thousand hours and I still love it's sound. I think we paid 180.00 with everything amp case everything.
Bottom line is I still have the guitar and the case and it's not for sale.
What Esteban says is true, if you spend a few hundred you can have a better guitar. Simple rule of math and workmanship. But find a better deal for something to plug along on, to write with, to learn with. You can't buy a Gorilla amp, a Fender guitar, etc for the retail price, I found mine this weekend at a yard sale for $65. 2009 Vintage. These guitars are sold to a lot of elderly who need companionship or a hobby of some kind to stay sane. Music, even played lousy, soothes the soul. I have 2
Cool, from what I've seen, not all esteban moddels are the same. Also having a guitar shipped.. depending on your location with temperature and humidity levels.. the wood acclimatizes.. of course some people will have problems This is a normal thing.
I didn't get this one, I got the Amber Ice one, and it's great. Only a minor finish issue around the sound hole. Pickup and EQ and everything still works.
My Esteban is great. But it sounds like I'm the only one.
my dad bought an esteban guitar...and the neck wasn't straight. in fact, the neck was so curved, that the strings were about a half an inch from the fretboard! i tried to play it, but i couldn't because it hurt too bad to press down the strings. cheap.
I happened to get an Esteban black with silver trim limited edition today in trade. I finally found an acoustic that "fits my hands", and sounds great too. I don't even look at a brand when I choose an acoustic to play on, it just don't matter. It is an electric/acoustic with an amp and works just fine!
I have a Fender acoustic and 2 Esteban versions (I'm not being biased because I knew him either) My Esteban is a lovely guitar that came as a gift from my Mom & was surprised at the nice sound it had for all you got with the package deal. If you can "play" guitar and know a bit about them you can pretty much make anything sound decent. I've been playing over 20 years & Esteban is a nice deal for a beginner. If people wanna be nit-picky, then go spend a crap load. I liked your video a lot tho.
I got an estaban for my first learning guitar .... mines got a 10 foot paint job but the tuber just cane loose had to get that fixed the pick guard it comin a little undone and the white around the edge(btw it a peace of plastic) is coming of in places I've had it for like two yrs nvr put it in case ... guitars been beat it's fallen down a flight of concrete stairs only got some paint scratches it's over all what you pay for but lasts forever
buy the package, keep the case and chord charts and through away the guitar......its not worth trying to learn on. spend the extra cash if your serious about learning. Esteban is a salesman and will tell you its a great beginners guitar but bad quality guitars can ruin you learning experience. dont be fooled by the home shopping network. there guitars are not consistent. go online and read about em or ask a serious guitar player.
i have the old non black esteban i cant remeber what year they made those but my friend has like a 800-1k$ guitar and he amazed how well mine sounds to his its defently not as good as his but he still amazed. defently a nice guitar for any level of player i think
Thanks for the vid. Seems like it's really hit and miss with these. I have an older Esteban (w/o the cutaway). The neck needed straightening right out of the box, but once that was done everyone seemed pretty surprised by how good it sounded. As a perpetual beginner, it still suits my needs after 5 years, although that mainly consists of picking it up, strumming a few chords, and sighing because I still can't play anything.
@InternetsAreGood Thanks for the reply, I'm still surprised how well this guitar sounds for the price I paid. It's been almost a year and it still seems to be "Straight" that is "no fret buzz yet" lol Keep playing!
ive heard mostly negative reviews on this guitar so i'm inclined to stay far away from it. buy a Taylor or just get a cheap beginner Takamine and locate a good teacher.
@starassist1977 I agree with you, I got lucky with the one I bought. I think the amp is the coolest part of the package. I hope to add a video of using the amp with an electric so people can hear it. Thank you so much for your reply, Hope all is well your way and your doing good!
I started on a Harmony as well. I play a Washburn now, but my girlfriend plays a Martin and it sounds much better. Perhaps the sweetest acoustic I have heard.
the other day i played one of my esteban guitars tht hasnt been played for at least 2 years and it was very close to being in tune.the first esteban guitar i bought was bad.it would not stay in tune.it had several flaws. it is posible to get a bad guitar !i bought a top name guitar once and after two weeks the neck twisted on me and i could not play past the eleventh fret.i had to hae it repaired!
i wont be able t play much longer i am now disabled nowllosing the strength to play
@joecam905 Thank you for your comments. I think some of these guitars are hit and miss as far as there overall quality. I know a guy who has one and the overall appearance is better than mine however the action is really high. I also can relate to high quality guitars being bad too. I once bought a Gibson Gospel and the fret buzz on that thing was so bad. I had it worked on two to three times and it would always warp back to the awful fret buzz. I gave up buying high quality acoustics years ago
hi i have several esteban guitars and i have top dollar guitars as well.my grand kids are learing to play on the esteban guitars and are very happy with the guitars.for the price they are a good outfit for people that do not have alot of money.all my esteban guitars are just fine.it is a matter of what you want in a guitar at a very low price.i love music and love to play as well.stephen is my friend.music is a beauty that we all can share!!!
dont listen to this guy he's full of shit, I bought an estaban guitar and it was nothing but junk, I wasnt expecting much but I was hoping it would at least stay in tune so like the saying goes you get what you pay for so you can waste your money on this piece of shit that will sit in your closet taking up space or you can be patient and save your money and buy a nice guitar like a martin that you will love and cherish forever.....
Ive had this guitar for almost 4 years it was my first guitar. It is horrilbe. Its almsot impossible to get in tune but it stays in the tune that you get it in forever lol. Dont order any of his products get a yamah for $100 there amazing.
Ive played some Fender acoustics and they do suck pretty bad. I think they just make them cheap so they can make extra money. But once you get above a certain price range they play o.k. but I would go with something else.
@starqz I'm a big fan of Fender electric guitars like the Telecaster and Stratocaster. But for acoustic guitars, Fender ain't my favorite. It's better to for a Yamaha or Epiphone, for an affordable acoustic guitar.
@WillieDrew2009 I agree, I like strats and teles more than any other guitars. Acoustics are great for quick song writing if there out. You can just grab it and start writing, still like electric way better though :0
I have an Estaban and I think it plays allright but every guitar teacher I know thinks that they suck and advised me to get a new one. The think I don't like about them is the fact that they are large dreadnoughts or at least the one I have is. I was advised that Yamaha makes a good guitar in the affordable price range. Does anyone know anything about Alvarez guitars?
@starqz Yamaha does do some decent guitars. I'm a fan of their older ones (but it seems that older guitars in general are just better), but the newer ones are okay. Alvarez is good as well. I was considering buying one myself, but the seller jacked the price $150 before I got ahold of him. My advice: try them.
@starqz definitely go with the Yamaha, I have a 37-38 year old yamaha G-85, and it still has that great warm classical tone that one wants with these guitars, if those don't work out, Ibanez makes some great acoustics.
just my review, maybe i got a bad one but, with mine the neck is bent two different places believe it or not, the frets started comming off of the plastic fret board, one time a fret came off and stuck in my hand, ouch!! and the action is so high I dont want to play it and the truss rod is at its max. feeds back pretty bad at gigs but I think thats pretty common. the wife bought it for me, shhhh
I talked to a local music instructor and hes had students bring in several of these guitars. According to him its a gamble when you order them. Its mainly due to the quality control where they're manufactured, its non existant. they also use cheap tuning pegs which makes some of them hard to tune. however, he has seen and played some that were decent. anyway, you can't complain to much for the money.
to the guy below thats rude childish and you need help.. Esteban is just trying to do people a favor you can't get a regular guitar for the price and it is a very nice guitar so get a life little kid....

But I am just starting guitar and seeing your review on yours has definitely eased my mind. I don't really need a real fancy expensive one and for the price I figured if nothing else this is a good one to get me started
If you play other guitars that were built for quality and not just dressed up to sell on tv, you would hear the difference in sound. Don't rob yourself, buy a $140 fender or something from a music store.
Great video, great review. I'm thinking about ordering his new package on HSN for $179.99
I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar and this seems like a good one for me to learn on and see if its something I'm going to stick with before I drop big bucks on a really nice guitar. I think you convinced me to buy it, haha. Thanks a lot for the review.
I've been playing 20 years, and I picked one of thes up and it was the hardest thing to play. I don't know how a beginner can get motivated to play one when an experienced guitarist can't really play and enjoy one. plus the neck went crooked.
