  • i cant do the lip thing help!

  • Everytime im singing i start to yawn after a while, I think its caused by my breathing. Anyone got an idea how to prevent this?

  • sometimes i just watch the first 10 seconds of ur video to hear the beginning. i love that part soo muchh! i hope one day i can sound as wonderful as u!

  • you are soo beautiful !!

and thank you sooo much for uploading your videos = )

  • My throat feels so itchy after the lip rolls. lol.

  • hello Rae I absolutly love your videos! and your range in your piece of music is fab. i just need to know as you said that that if we cant sing the high notes it dosent mean that it is not are singable range how do i know what is my sigable range and or if i can always change it to a better one

  • when ever i try ti sing high , it feels like there's a some kind of wall or blockage in my throat blocking my voice so it can't hit the high notes, and then it breaks.

How can i fix that :)?

  • I'd just like to know, is a good singing voice something that you're born with, or can anyone sound good with enough practice? I love singing but I'm convinced I'm terrible at it. Is there hope or will I just have to settle for singing in the shower? :)

  • @kakashisaotome Some can be born with it I guess but when you are "born" with it you will be easier to train and stuff like that. Practice makes perfect so of course, with practice you can hit those notess! :)

  • @kakashisaotome Personaly I beilive that some people may be born with it. But I surely wasnt and after singing opera as practice, I have become a good singer. So yeah sum ppl r born with it have it easy and others have to work for it.

  • @kakashisaotome I'm a Swedish singer so I can explain it to you :)

A good voice is something you're born with, if you sound terrible you can't train it to be better, BUT, you can make it sound a little better if you practice raehenrys videos, or if you have a songteacher! They will make your real voice come out where it's been hiding and you will be able to sing better than most people. Hope that answered your question! :)

Upload a video so I can hear it, I'm convinced you don't sing bad!

  • @kakashisaotome There is no such thing as being born with talent. Some people just have more drive than others to do certain things which includes singing. If you're determined, you can become the next [Insert favorite singer here].

  • Thank you!

  • Thank u thank u thank u!!!

  • OMG thank you so much, i had to go to the studio yesterday.. kept messing up alot because i think i was too under pressure and stressed.. now when i go back to do the bridge ima shock them cuz i can LIP-ROLL :D it helped me alot

  • How do you get this lip roll down? I can't do it for the life of me. :(

  • @Remembertosmile u wanna make sure ur lips are relaxed and there isnt 2 mush space between ur lips or else the air will escape. make sure ur not trying on th front/ dryer part of ur lips that r visable. Use the part where they are meeting (the wet and dry part.) if u cannot get it in one spot, keep adjusting until u get it. Hope this help(;

  • you helped me so much!thanks!:D

  • shes soooo god damn beautiful O.o I cant find a girl like that at 16 :(

  • @iOozeEPIC seriously dont told us about that, who said girls was a need in life when you got a voice!

  • @keeperoftheforest its still depressing :(

  • I feel soooo stupid not being able to do this..

  • Can you believe this??? I can't lip roll!!

  • Yes um is there anything special i can do to get my voice crystal clear

  • I really like your videos, they are entertaining and very informative. I have a few questions... I hope you don't mind. I used to sing (scream) in a punk rock band when I was young where i almost certainly damaged my voice. What are the effects of this damage? Will they be noticeable in my singing? If you get hoarse when you are practicing singing does that mean you are doing it wrong?

    Thanks so much!!

  • I want to sing like the girl of ORPHANED LAND band, in the song "Sapari" at min. 1:00, her voice sounds so clear like yours... How can I get my throat clear? is there any drink or food I can try?

  • I want to sing like the girl on ORPHANED LAND in the song "Sapari" at min. 1:00, her voice sounds so clear like yours... How can I get my throat clear? is there any drink or food I can try?

  • Love this video! Also, you look gorgeous here!

  • wow...your pretty hot.

  • Then, is it possible for an alto or mezzo sop to be able to sing the sop1's range?

  • okay so then basically the lip roll will strengthen that part of my voice, and so when i go and try to sing it, the breaks will be lessened?

  • to sing soprano do you use your head voice?

  • @raehenry21 it really helps... ty so much, i LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! XD

  • haha I can hear the octaves that are created when you are doing the lip roll XD it's so awesome

  • i have a contest next wednesday and i dont have that much practice. Help!!

  • I NEED HELP! Any ideas for a male baritone with a tenor-alto-soprano falsetto range? especially with getting a natural tone using falsetto :)

  • @pilchard96 What do you need help with? I might have a few ideas.

  • @Thelosttoa11458 Thanks :)

General tips on strengthening the bottom range of the falsetto, and also how to make it sound more natural - it sounds like a woman's head voice atm, but there is still a tone difference switching between the top of chest range and falsetto :)

  • Very good video with good tips....

    Balaji-Sydney-Australia

  • Okay LOL, still, my throat is still tangled and tight... =/

  • Good stuff! I take serious singing lessons, its all I like to do, but every time I check out the internet to see other people singing its almost always bad advice, its really good to see at least one person knows what they are talking about! So thanks from Canada!

  • This video has helped me so much! after doing the lip role every day for about 20 mins and for about 2 weeks, I can sing without any tension or strain :D and i sound so much better! Thanks again!

  • how do you avoid singin with your throat and not gettin such a squeaky voice??

  • click 1:28 over and over

  • I can't go back down! I can only go up!:(

  • This is a great clip because unlike so many other clips out there on YouTube that are not Rae's, it explains WHY the lip roll exercise works.

  • Hey awesome as a functioning musician lol, this reall helped me with relaxing my vocals. I will for sure check all your lessons. THanks

  • is it possible to go from baritone to tenor and from F4 to C5 in chest voice?

  • isn't taking a spoonful of honey clears away the cracky throat too?

But DO NOT. may i repeat, DO NOT! eat/drink anything dairy if you're going to sing.

  • WOW! ALL UR VIDEOS ARE SO HELPFUL.

  • @ashleytisdaleUSA i hope so haha x

  • think i'll just go back to autotune..

  • I have no idea why, but my voice is going through a really crap time.. i cant sing at all and my voice breaks (but im a girl). Does honey help?

  • yo i like your videos check out my music channel

  • when i sing, its like theres 2 sections to it. first is my "real" voice then the second section (when notes get high) is my "fake or air" voice.

thats not normal is it? like there is a big distinction in sound from the both, was just wondering how do i sort of fuse them both together?

  • @23NyDogg23 thats chest and head voice...

  • I'm a little confused how do you know if you sing with the "outside muscles?"

We did the lip rolls in chorus :D But everytime I do it, I get giggly

  • Thanks I needed this!!!! This helped alot. I like the singing in the beginning of the video sounds great!!

  • i like her accent..anyway this really works.:)

  • how do you lip roll...?

  • can I ask, if I'm a mezzo sop/alto/contra alto, can I still sing high??

  • @MabelJoan probably i like soprano style lol

  • This has been the best explanation of how to deal with voice breaks that I've come across, thanks!

  • I have a problem.... When i sing and a song im good, but at the end of the song when i'm done and i take a big normal breath i get a pain in my chest area.. Do u think its singing related or a health issue? Please help me

  • My throat gets sore when I sing??

  • @YaGurlKaylesha

that pain is a result from the throat muscles work out

that's good it means that exercising is working

  • @sweettouth20 O ok I thought I was doing it wrong??? Thanks

  • @YaGurlKaylesha

Um... she (the lady in the video) just said "if it's painful it's not singing". See a trained vocal teacher, and maybe a doctor specializing in vocal health!

  • @Astariel2525 otay kool thanx

  • @YaGurlKaylesha

Well, for one thing, how long are you singing? And how vigorously? Do you sing at the top of your lungs without warming up?

Does your throat hurt after singing for just a few minutes or does it hurt after a few hours?

And does it hurt when you speak for a long time?

  • @Astariel2525 I dont really warm up but when I do it still hurts and its begins to hurt as long as I sing but when I stop It stops. Do you know what Im doing wrong??

  • @YaGurlKaylesha

You may have vocal nodules. I really recommend going to see an EMT (Ear-Mouth-Throat) Specialist (Doctor) immediately!

  • Me has visto cara de "triunfito cantante"? QUE ME ESTAS CONTANDO!!!???? T_T

  • 9 people are jealous of your singing.

  • how long would you say to spend doing lip rolls each day?

  • so if you keep practising the lip roll will it eventually come naturally to sing that way?

thank you by the way, you're awesome :)

  • why do a rhaberry?

  • every time I try the lip roll with or without my fingers my lips keep popping out and going floppy! what am I doing wrong-it tickles my nose too :)

  • This helps me alot (thx)♥

  • So i've ben following all of your episodes so far, and their great! =D

Problem is, Each time i try to record a song, and i reach the high note parts.. I just keep failing.. Is it because the note is too high for me? Or do i need to practice more.. ( I sing on my own for 1 year now without a teacher. )

  • ur great!!!! =)

  • what does it mean if i cant liproll?

  • is it necessary to keep the fingers by the side of the mouth when you lip roll??

  • @Harponyo22 Only if you can't really do it without the fingers by the side of the mouth.

Like me lol, i can't do it without the fingers.

  • @JuaronAaliyah - that is because how you hear your voice is not how everyone else hears your voice. You are hearing what comes out of your mouth plus what bounces around in your head. Your voice usually sounds deeper to you because of that added bouncing around in your skull. Everyone else hears just what comes out of your mouth so your voice will sound thinner in a recording.

  • what a beautiful 36 year old !

  • When I sing high my voice so weak and hoarse

  • HEY, this is s arelyl good video but i sing to flat, please can you help me? xx

  • hi! for some reason, i can reach higher notes during lip roll but never when i am singing... wat am i doing wrong? and wats the difference?

  • @gd29100 - your breath support is changing somewhere between the lip roll and actual singing. Try doing a lip roll and then blending it into a straight note. If you feel something change physically you are relaxing as you go the straight note. Don't relax the pressure from the lip roll as you go into the note.

  • ok so haw many times a day do i do this excercise?

  • ur awsum! Thanx to u my singing has gotten better =D

  • hey great vids dude, keep up the great work :D oh yeah ond just one question when i do the lip rolls and go higher up in pitch almost to the top of my range (im a 15 year old male btw if that helps lol) i feel my voice box going up and it starts to hurt a little when it gets all the way to the top and sorta stops me from going any higher up in pitch. do you know what im doing wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • i cant hold that lip-roll thingy for a cupl of seconds.. do i jus need more practise??! :)

  • love how she says foouuurr

  • Very helpful!! I used to put too much strain while I was doing the exercises

  • The lip roll tickles my nose! D:

  • @GDGloomie me too

  • i cannt do thaat 'liple' thing? :L <3

  • You know how can i get rid of vocal nodules??,,with out the surgery because i dont have a head voice no more cause of the nodule i have,it does not let my head voice produce sound.... when i am singing on my head voice no sound comes just air air and air so any voice exercise that will help me get rid of that nodules?

  • How long per day should you do this exercise? Like 10 minutes or more? I sing almost every day and I have problems with singing low notes. Is it good to drink a lot of water when you want to sing good? Would you like to here me sing and then give me some exercises? (I already do some vocal exercises but I wounder how long it takes to sing better)

  • omg, a hot vocal coach, i find myself sitting here watching her and just losing focus, soooooo sexy, and her Accent amg.

  • r u suppose to sing with ur throat??? O.o

  • @hii12321 Not really. If you are feeling strain or tension in that area, chances are you're using the wrong approach/technique. It's common though AND quite fixable so don't worry at all. I sang entirely from the throat when I was younger - before I learned how to avoid it. xx

  • @raehenry21 damn! you are a MILF rae!!!!

  • @asrarulhaq2002 perv

  • @raehenry21 How do you avoid it? cuz i find myself constantly tensing up my throat when I try to sing higher notes. Not even really that high to be honest, just a bit above a guys normal talking range, you know? I can't seem to figure out what I should be doing to hit the higher notes without having to sound like i'm trying to reach for it.

  • @raehenry21 "THATS WHAT SHE SAID".....

  • I think it´s agreat thing to try - thanks

  • I CANT LIP ROLL NO MATER WAT

  • i like her,shes a cool singing teacher,most on here are terrible

  • i dont sound any better at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • isee a big improvement in my voice

  • i dont sing, i just watch her clips coz i reckon she's cute LOL :)

  • i think works

  • you tell us to activate muscles on the inside while singing but how do you do it when i sing the outside muscles are the ones that are acttivated when attemping to sing high notes this tells what to do but not how. how long do i do lip roles and will it totaly deactivate the outside muscels it doesn't make sence.

  • I don't know how to thank u enough...it worked for me..i usually don't experience vocal breaks but was experiencing them from some time ago when i attempted an "over high" scale for a song....but now i know that it was actually a "new voice" and after this exercise, my range has actually increased...so thanks a million.....keep up the good work.....ur just gr8....

  • Is it bad that my voice gets a lot higher when i try to sing?

  • wat if i can't so the lip roll ?

    HELP

  • Hi I am a singer who are singing "normal" and opera and I really like your lessons. (I have taught myself to sing "normal" and opera) But I can only take high C sometimes. Why is it so? (I do not work as a singer I only like to sing i am 17 years old. I have discovered that I sing better when I have started to drink a lot water. Why or is it so?

  • Hi Rae .

Can you watch my VOCAL WARM UP EXERCISE video and give me some advise please ...

    Thank you

  • Ican't do the lip roll at all.

  • i cant sing now cuz im really sick your vids are great

  • :56 whoah.. you had a different accent! lol.

  • :56 whoah.. you had a different accent! lol.

  • when i sing, I exhale and my diaphram goes out, and when i breathe in it goes in. I have a small waist so how do i breathe in and make the diaphram go out, and breathe out for it to come in??

  • I love your videos! Think I'm gonna check your website right now!

One question though: What about the breaks DURING the lip roll exercice?

Do I want to stay in my chest voice, in my head? Or I don't care and someday, over the rainbow, it won't break anymore...?

Thank you again for your time and dedication!!

    Take Care

    -j-

  • luv ur hair!

  • Very entertaining - thanx for taking the time and energy to help and advise us all !..

  • Hello Rae You are a great tip on alot of things and I am doing the lip roll more comfortable thank-you so much and I hope you are doing well Qudracer687 (Laura)

  • SEI MOLTO BELLA,TI AMO.

  • This is becoming a very useful tool for me :) I've been trying to teach my self how to control my breathing except i'm a beginner so thats expected, I need to learn how to stop running out of breath in the middle of a song but hopefully this will help me how to do that :) keep it up, you've got a great skill :D

  • The lip roll is something a fellow singer told me he had to do after he had throat surgery because of nodules on his throat.. The doctor told her it would help heal his vocal area.. Again I'm starting to do these type exercises Hope fully this will help me sing a lot easier and better thank you so Much

    All the Best;

    Scott : )

  • this is wonderful advice! i think im actually getting there :)

  • I like your hair!
