@TheEsaful I've seen people do awesome stuff with white rock (drawing on stone tablets) but that is hard to do and isn't as good as a pencil on paper for many reasons I shouldn't have to list.

So I think saying drawing with a mouse is like drawing with a rock is a good way of putting it, you can do it but dear god that's like drawing with a rock.

And let me break that down: Rock and mouse: not designed for art but you can do it.

Tablet and pencil: are designed for art.

In every single tutorial, no one ever tells you the exact pen their using, its opacity or strength, just leaves me lost, youve got this lovely multi tone look going on there but when i do the same thing like if i select a dark grey on multiply, each shade is too distant from the one before it, it looks tacky, i really dont get it, and i wouldn't be surprised if ive confused you coz its hard to explain the issue im having

as a beginner i have no idea what he's doing. why is he painting in black and white? suddenly, without warning theres a (B&W) pear painted and partially rendered. why? why is this called a beginner vid? he talks of color but uses black and white....then all of a sudden without explanation its in color! who the hell voted this a good video? can we get a beginning middle and end pal....how bout some clarity with that as well.

@RushEpoo because black&white and color are the same thing. They are just variation of value the reason hes painting in black in white it to make sure he has strong values of light and dark. It helps the painting pop out.

@drewswift i understand your point Drew however that point is not made clear at all in this video. just because you understand that black and white sometimes makes a painting "pop out" doesnt mean the "beginner" will understand that personal observation. a teachers responsibility is to make things understandable to all of the students, not just the advanced ones like yourself. In fact, the comments are giving me far more information than this poorly instructed video is. (nice pear though)

@RushEpoo This isn't an instruction video, though. I thought that is clear if you listen to this demo. LIke I say in the video, it is a demo for an instructional video, which you can buy for $5 and download instantly. In the video, I do explain that black makes things receed and that white makes things pop out, and how that is relative to the values around them. But why would you expect to learn from a demo, which is only used to promote the actual video?

@explosivosatomics he is saying that you have to click the " alt key and then to pick up this color by touching with your tablet or click with your mouse. But if you try to paint with your mouse is like trying to paint with a rock, so I don't recommend it . Now I'm just lightly pushing up this in color in a circle direction..." End is kinda hard to understand but I think this is what he meant :)
