  • Alot of u lot hav missed the point of this scene. the actual title of the this scene is called 'trading taps'. This isn't a contest but 2 styles or cultures coming together. The irish hav just made their way to america with the only proud thing they have with them (irish dancing) and see people dancing in the street, similar to how they do it.

  • I have shown my horses how to dance like this and now thees guys do not stand a chance >:B

  • well, people don't understood the real meaning of the title...

guys, there's 2 styles... from 2 places... start like a contest, that's why the "VS" in title...

I really like the two groups... and for me, there's no winner on that contest =)

  • At first, I was a bit at unease because of perceived stereotypes, but the problem wasn't the dancers, the routines or the theatrics. The problem was me. It is fun, challenging and full of imagination. There is no competition between cultures here. It is dancers .... dancing and doing it very very well.

  • Anyone 'fighting' about this completely missed the point. LOLOLOLOLOLOLO

  • I thought that this was the best part of the show. By the way, for you folks that are fighting. Ummm, they weren't really fighting. IT WAS A SHOW. And one of the best that Ive seen.

  • It is NOT USA vs Ireland.......It is USA AND IRELAND !

  • This is somewhat offensive to be quite honest even though I have always loved this dance. I mean... come on we all come from different background with therefore completely different styles of dance. How is it fair to say that Irish dancing is better then American dancing? Theres so many variations of each that its just not fair to say ones better then the other...

  • who cares about their natinality?both parts of that show do a fabulous job.i kinda like the american style.its fresh and different to the typical riverdance moves

  • what does it matter race shouldnt matter people are such racist african americans are some of the best dancers in the world and even some asians too

  • wow... dat was great!...

  • us is dancing better than irish

  • both teams were excellent!

  • I saw this and it's terrific. It's worthwhile on splurging on tickets when it comes to your town. It was all sold out here months before they came

  • loved it, excellent, brillent.

    all these guys are great

  • im irish and i think the usa guys were better,

  • tiredofphailspelling, you are soo right, the worst a country can do is forget its origins, but ofcourse both the US and Ireland have evolved since that time, wich you can see nicely in this splendid video.

  • Loved the transition from what seemed to be a competition between the two styles into a fusion of both. Great stuff.

  • omgg i lovedd itt <3 it was amazzinggg

  • both us and irish dancers was very good 5* from ireland

  • this video was really amazing

i would love to actually see one of these live

  • okay! this was soooo cool!! i loved it! 5/5!

  • omg i saw this!

  • Awesome x

  • I thumbed up your comment, BUT tap dancing may be an American style, but it is also a very, very, very big factor in Irish dancing.

  • Hahahahahaha that was one of the cooliest things I've ever seen! But why does it say Riverdance in the description? That really wasn't Riverdance! Riverdance WAS the coolest thing I've ever seen. Ireland so won there but the Americans were awesome!!

  • ha that was funny but nothing beats ireland...x

  • Is it a real competition in which they are mocking at each other or is it part of the show??

  • How good they are !

I rated them as awesome and then I wanted again and again to rate as awesome. It's pity that you can't rate as many time as you have that feeling !

  • i love eh wen d mock each oda

    xxx

  • Wow, this was great. I'll give the Americans this win!!!

  • if only all arguments were solved like this, think of the headlines. "american troops were involved in a vicious dance off today with rebel foces in baghdad"

  • Comment removed

  • This was definitely one of my favorite parts of the show when I saw it live!

  • I love Jazz Tap, it's so free! Irish tap is beautiful though!

  • I saw this live on Wednesday, it was AMAZING!

  • Ireland rulez !!!!!!!!!!!weve da best national dance!:D

  • Oh My God. These dudes are amazing.Old school, new school it is all awesome

  • I can just imagine Eminem or Nelly doing that kind of dance.

  • us vs irland?wtf?who can dance this dance better than the irish?

  • i dunno...those tap dancers were pretty flipping amazing...

  • Yeah I agree! They are so the best!!

  • i love this scene in the show i just love how they combined both cultures into one "battle dance scene". lol. i think it's really coo.

  • Now Doomessenger4654, every question deserves an anwer...

Eireboy17: The reason black people are dancing is because 1) it's the 1930's and two they're tap dancing/jazz. Black people originated those dance styles so we give credit to where credit's due. The Irish are wearing the 1930s clothes because the stage is set in 1930s so to keep all the dancers in unison, the costumers put the Irish in 1930s clothes. Hopefully that helps.

  • It has nothing to do with if you're full blooded Irish or not it has to do with how much you practice.

  • Love it Love it!!! Just adore this music and dance!

  • wise up you stupid clown!!

  • To make idiots like you (Directed solely at Eireboy17) Ask stupid questions.

  • That was cool...

  • Im Irish myself but im not going to rip the piss out of America. Whats the point? I think its fucking deadly the fact that two COMPLETELY different cultures and dance styles can come together and have a laugh. There is some similarities between the two. You need abit of both haha. For those utter GOBSHITES getting all serious about defending Ireland, pull your head out of your arse, at least Americans are attempting to keep our culture alive.

  • I think I prefer classic riverdance, but the U.S. had a really good skit- pretty fancy footwork going on, especially the one who did it on his tippy toes, and they had really good humor. I liked the Irish costumes better though :)

  • kk well im 100% irish i was just saying kk i never said tap dancing wasent american i just said they think they can do riverdance better

  • It was better live, when I saw it first, when the segment was new, and I had the privilege of watching it at an outdoor venue where the excitement of the showdown swept through the crowd like fire through dry grass till we were laughing and hooting and SCREAMING with glee, but this is still pretty damn great. That lead dancer's better'n Flatley ever was.

  • no way flatleys amazing

  • right off then of course it was the irish who won its our sport to be certain, bloody americans and their "flipping", for the love of saints have respect for river dancing its not to be taken lightly and made a mockery of boy-o

  • I think this is pretty good. but I prefer the irish dancing. also, because Riverdance is irish dancing. end of.

  • What the heck is everyone fighting over?!?! Children don't even act this way. The whole POINT of this dance was to compare and contrast the two different styles of dances, not to say that one was better than another -- or that one country is better than another. Grow up the lot of you, because you're all acting shamefully. Not all Americans are fat, nor are all Irish drunkards. If you can't realize this, then I would suggest getting off the internet.

  • well im from cuba and we know dance very very well but come on guys Both dances are similar but different. frist *tab* use the soul ,the body like music and river dance a wonderful music and a great sincornisacion both are great and i dont care the color black or with for this kind of dance u need to have talent and dont be a mediocre.

  • shut da fuck up ye american bastards go eat more mc donalds ye fat cunts

  • tap derived from irish culture(invented by an an irishman and an african american)...so it wouldnt really be here today if it wasnt for that

  • Who really cares about the whole irish v american I'm irish and damn proud but I'm not gonna rip on another country like what some pricks here are doing the american tap and the tradition irish tap go well together ^^ why else would they go off and make a dance like this???

  • yo at least the americans have style, river dance is just the same steps over and over again, u seen it once u seen it all!! and 2 siljoma, what the fuck is Your problem are u some kind of racist?? ASSHOLE!!

  • I agree americans know how to spicy this up abit.

  • hmm? the fat americans werent doing river dance ow this pisses me off so much americans thinking they can do everything better than everyone AGAIN? we created the dance and the ppl at 1:34 were doing riverdance see the difference?

  • someone feels threatened. mauhahaha

drunken mick, get over it, we are superior beings.

  • get a fucking life ye spanner and btw u get a lot more drunk fucking americans than u do irish ye faggot

  • Sure, if you're mistaking pure sculpted muscle mass for fat, then yeah, I guess the Americans were "fat". Lol, your Irish tempers.

  • no no no i know muscle when i see it and i know fat when i see it

  • I agree with what you're saying up until the comment about our tempers. Ireland actually has a reputation for being one of the friendliest countries in the world so stop bulshitting

  • Yeah, cause I was really being serious. The guy I made that comment too was being a dick. BTW, I am part Irish. I don't see it as an insult.

  • How much Irish? Obviously not enough. If you were proper Irish you wouldn't be slagging yourself so you're obviously distant. How the hell don't you see that as an insult?

  • Half, by my father's side. You're acting as if I said all the Irish were worthless, unemployed drunks or something. Having a fiery temper actually counts as a positive in my book, though the person I made the comment to was using his to be an asshat. Good day.

  • Yes I am very protective of my country, because I love Ireland, and in most people's books a bad temper is not a good thing. Asshat? Thats a great word :L

  • well they dnt think they can do everything better (mainly because they cant) but i do agree this guy is such a fucking dope

  • ur are such a capper! irish dancing beats american every time! and obviously u dnt know a lot about it cos there are hundreds upon hundreds of steps u obviously have no rythem and no eye for dance idiot

  • the american spoilt the dance, what can i say...

  • Shut The F*ck Up And Get A Life You Racist Bich. Theyre Just Adding In Their own Style, Its not Just For That Country To Do. Theres many Styles of Dances Spread Across The World. Learn To Like It.

  • i agree but it is actually an irish dance ye eejit :L

  • i fidt in...

the stepdance is irish, BUT it is cool that they have made an american style, the irish is courteous, and that is what real river dance, the American try to be courteous, but amercan are more cool then courteous so the Am. is not dancing riverdanc but more a kind of a tap-dancing!!!

Anyway, i like the mix and the amercan makes it look really cool...

  • Ireland is way better!! and the US tap it's just and adaptation of the traditional Irish Tap!!

  • im torn between this being the sexiest thing Ive seen or the coolest. I have to say both sides really got it for me and i think both sides represented their cultures well in this clip so eat shit all u haters. BOTH sides kicked ass.

  • Ireland was way better! I wish I was irish!!! They are traditional irish dancers, and they have beautiful music, like Celtic Woman and CEltic Thunder-I am so gonna move there! It is also the most beautiful country in the world-I think!

  • IRELAND

  • ireland all the way

  • fuck the americans they think leprecons live in ireland the irish are a tall nation OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE du du du du du du du du du ireland

  • you are an idiot. spell leprechauns right you little minker

  • you are absolutely right, every single American thinks that leprechauns live in Ireland, you might try talking to real Americans and not yuppie American tourists

  • ha my mum went to america and she was asked if we had roads in ireland, if we had supermarkets, if she knew any leprachauns, and if she lived in a thatched cottage lol

  • im thinking if the black guys are the irish thats the whole of irelands black population there =D you all kno the irish win, since we are the traditional riverdancers

  • I personally think that they were pretty even matched. the irish had the sexy suspender thing going on and really amazing kicks and good rhythmn. and then the african american had the groove and chill amazingnesss to it. the best entertainment i've seen in a really long time

  • brillant i think that was the most talented diverse dance ive ever seen

  • I absolutely love listening to the different beats they are making. I am an Irish Step Dancer and a tap dancer so admire this a lot. I am just not that talented just yet though. lol

  • i hope you dont mind my asking but how do you do two completely different things like irish dancing and tap dancing?

  • I go to an only Irish Step Dancing school and I also go to a dance school that teaches all types of dances except for the Irish Dancing(hence I go to 2 different dance schools). I also take ballet, pointe and jazz along with the tap and Irish Step Dancing. =]

  • when i saw riverdance they did something like that a dance off between the irish dancers and street tap dancers.

  • very nice!!!

  • brillent...

  • even though i live in the US Irland kicks those wanna be tap dancers butt

  • well of course ireland beat the US. we irish have the luck with us haha. and i dont like tap very much lol

  • really cool

  • enjoyed that... A1

  • To make sense of this number it's important to understand the story of Riverdance, especially Act 2. At the beginning of Act 2, The American Wake signals the immigrants departure from Ireland. Following after that are a number of multi-cultural pieces such as this. This number "Trading Taps" is meant to be a comment on the Irish and African American cultures meeting up in America in a city such as New York. It starts out as "them vs us" but by the end, the rhythms learn to work together.

  • you are correct it is supossed to be America vs Ireland Hip Hip,Jazz,Swing Dance Battle incoporating River Dance into it with The American Irish Roots

  • awesome!!

  • it's supposed to be america vs ireland

  • Brilliant!

  • This is hilarious. I love it.

  • love the end part where that dance together.

  • how is this UK vs ireland?black tap is american if anything but this looks more like street vs schooled.

  • qui peut me donner le nom de ce danseur qui fit la cloture de riverdance a bercy il y a 2 ans

  • Love it Love it Love it!!! Just adore this music and dance!

  • I am falling in love with this dance!!!

  • dude is that Breandan de Gallai?

  • yep!!

  • love it..

  • I remember this! Awesome Riverdance vs (non-stiff)Tapdancing choregraphy. XD

And the very musicians fight, then the dancers mimics each others' style, and and... it's funneh! XD

...tough my legs hurt just looing at 'em go for 9 minutes.... ¬_¬¤

  • Simply OUTSTANDING!!xxx

  • I remember seeing this on T.v. a while ago, and it blew my mind... The first time I saw Michael Flatley and Riverdance, I fell madly in love with the Irish culture!

  • Tremendous! Just kept getting better! Thanks for sharing!! (Wish I could upgrade my first impulse 4-star-rating to 5-star!)
