Yes you are right in one sence but thats not the whole picture. While some parts are warming they only focus on those parts while other parts ice sheets are expanding that much they are breaking off beacuse of the sheer weight of snow that falls on them. Global warming would cause ice sheets to melt round the edges and not break off! Ice where ever it may be acts in the same way. The Pan-Arctic Ice Ocean Modelling and Assimilation System has data suggesting arctic sea ice volume has dropped by an average of 3.5 x 10^3 km^3 per decade and in September last year dropped to only 4000km^3.
