I'm norwegian, and my impression is that here in Norway, religion is concidered to be a personal and very private issue. If people want to hear preaching they go to a church, and I can imagine that many norwegians will often see street preaching as awkward or a nuisance. I think it doesn't go so well together with the culture.
This was on the national day, and people were going out to see the parade, not see preaching. I understand why the police would consider that loud yelling a disturbance.

The policeman said to the preacher that he appreciate his message and his right to free speech, but that the national day is a very sensitive day, and that he would appreciate that he would respect that and keep the preaching outside the center of the celebration. Obviously that particular day and place was reserved for a another purpose.

I'm norwegian, and my impression is that here in Norway, religion is concidered to be a personal and very private issue. If people want to hear preaching they go to a church, and I can imagine that many norwegians will often see street preaching as awkward or a nuisance. I think it doesn't go so well together with the culture.
This was on the national day, and people were going out to see the parade, not see preaching. I understand why the police would consider that loud yelling a disturbance.

The policeman said to the preacher that he appreciate his message and his right to free speech, but that the national day is a very sensitive day, and that he would appreciate that he would respect that and keep the preaching outside the center of the celebration. Obviously that particular day and place was reserved for a another purpose.

i've read the bible, and it does not appeal to me because it is full of contradictions. according to the bible, jesus proved that he was resurrected by revealing himself to paul, then to many others, about 500 people total. it also says that he is watching us at all times and is always there. so, by that logic, if i get with a friend and pray for jesus to appear, he should appear if he's really there.

1 John 18-20 are samples of this strong chapter in the bible and all predominantly about how to preach and love others.
"18 There is NO fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who FEARS is NOT yet perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.
20 If anyone says, "I love God," but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen."

Please don't take these men as typical Americans. As with all counties we have our share of loons, these are some of them. I am an American but my family comes from Norway. I am sorry they showed up and acted the way they did.

And the difference between Norwegian police and police in America is that Norwegian police actually speak to you first and politely ask you to remove yourself.

So if you break laws, like harassing old women with a loud speaker, and get arrested just like anyone else would you think you're being persecuted? It's not against to preach but this was a public disruption.
This is equality, not persecution. Being Christian doesn't entitle you to special treatment or special rights. What the police did here was right.

First, he lies. He said he just wanted to say hi to the king and that he went to Norway to celebrate with them, he is a liar for Jesus. Is this the message that you want to send the world, that it's ok to lie so long as you're doing it to loudly proselytize at public ceremonies? If I went to America and started shouting "Hail Satan" at a Fourth of July rally, I'd get arrested especially if I gave the police a hard time.

You are wrong. Catholics go to heaven. Catholics who do not live according to Christ - harming or killing or commiting crimes, will be punished.
However, this always shows instantly the ignorance of people. Catholics profess exactly as born again Christians do, we just don't call it being saved. We call it grace.
And the process is the same, because it is in the bible about repentance, forgiveness, turning away from sin with the help of Christ and asking for forgiveness.

If you want to debate Catholics, perhaps you should join one of their forums, for many of them might crush you with their knowledge of scripture or their understanding how to get to heaven. however, your version is worthy, just do not talk about something you don't know enough about through misinformation.
Besides, no one will really know until they get in front of Jesus, now will they? Not you or I.
That is why we must turn our lives to HIM daily.

If you want to preach the gospel, find your self a street corner and stay there. I don't want people following me around to push theire religion on me, no matter which religion it is.
To you people that think this is Christmas, it is not, its the 17th of May, Constitution day in Norway where we have other things to celebrate.
People that go around with banners telling us to "fear God" get what they deserve, and you got exactly what you where hoping to. To provoke a confrontation.

I am glad someone from Norway noticed this and speaks up. I am in total agreement with you. What these sp's are really doing is just trying to prove they are discriminated against, in addition to gaining notoriety.
They purposely provoke people and the laws to get arrested, for some reason they think this proves discrimination and builds their case they are hated (which they think God wants) for preaching about Christ.
I am a Catholic, and they make it look real bad for Christianity.

THE COPS WAS VERY NICELY TELLING THE GUY HE HAD TO HAVE A PERMIT TO SPEAK. THIS IS WHAT THEY DO IN NORWAY TO AVOID RIOTS. THE COPS DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THIS.NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR THIS ANY MORE THAN WE DO IN THE USA. VERY BAD TASTE TO DO THIS **** IN SOMEONE ELSE'S COUNTRY. RUDE, ARROGANT AND IGNORANT. THIS IS A NICE PLACE.

These street preachers put themselves on a pedestal like god. The audicty and arrogance to think that people in other countries don't have churches or know about God.
Larry, et all should stick to their own home towns, plenty of problems there, before they go try taking sticks out of others eyes, take the beam out of their own! I hope they get banned from Norway, that will serve them right to mind their own business and clean up their own country. American arrogance never ceases to amaze.

I am not trying to talk different than other people, this is a reality. They are arrogant, they have the audacity to think they can march in other countries and rain on peoples parades and defy laws of peacekeeping measures in other countries. Freedom of speech rights in Amercian are NOT the same in other countries.

They are not a pagan country, they allow freedom of religion, but they no longer allow people to FORCE religion on others.
Religion and faith are two distinct things. Perhaps preachers need to learn that lesson in life.
I am a Christian and these Christians make it look bad for other Christians by screeching a imbalanced gospel and utilizing barrage of insults rather than explaining what sins are and how to overcome them.
