The reason we've made it this far is because we are able to adapt to many different situations and make decisions and be very social and support eachother, so to take away our adaptability to eat both meat and veggies for energy, is only hurting us. Since we still have all of our eggs in one basket as a race(re: only living on a single planet) we can not afford to mess with what evolution has done for us to help us survive. Maybe once we're on other planets we can afford to specialize in veggie.

the fat and other things from meat act as survival stuff for the body. in caveman days if you didn't eat for 2 or 3 days it was cool because you ate meat which had fat your body could store for energy. We don't need that kind of survival fat in today's world(in this country), BUT, if we specialize and lean ourselves into veg-only, then we are relying on our technology to stay alive. if something happened, and we force-evolved to not be able to eat meat, we'd be in a BAD situation, survival wise.
