@FalkenBest most teams in the AFC are close to average, not just Korea and japan. at least Korea (if you are talking about south Korea) have Park, who've been playing for Manchester for year, even in the all important matches in the champions league, and a few other player who play in strong leagues, as does Japan.

In my opinion, the only truly respectable teams in the AFC on a world stage are:

South Korea, Japan, Iran, Australia...... the rest of the teams range from okay to very weak.

Loving the fact that people think Oceania is a continent. Oceania is a Region, Australia is a Continent, hence why they can compete in the Asian Cup since there is only 1 country on their continent and FIFA thought it was better for the growth of Football for Australia to compete with Asian Teams.

@00hughel Australia was accepted into the AFC because the move was a Win-Win situation for everyone. it has nothing to do when their location.

now the remaining countries in the OFC have a better chance of appearing in a world stage such as the World Cup (eg. New Zealand in WC 2010), leading to a popularity growth and increased experience gain in that region. The AFC will also benefit from a strong team such as Australia joining, Australia will also benefit from playing higher level teams.

@SuperThommichan It's true that India did get 2nd place in the 1964, but the tournament that year only consisted of 4 teams... so getting 2nd place is not much of an accomplishment. plus, the only reason India qualified to that tournament was because Pakistan and Iran withdrew since Israel was the host.

@SuperThommichan There was no World Cup in 1948. India Did however qualify for the 1950 World Cup, but they did not even play. They withdrew because they insisted on playing barefoot but were not allowed.

India may be good at other sports (cricket is the only one I can think of) and does have its place in the world as a country. but as a football nation, they truly are horrible, especially given the size of their population.
