  • can you throw all draw bends in first position? whats makes it diferent then to 2nd?

  • hi adam. i have been following your lessons for a couple of months now....you are great! with regards to your last video...i cant seem to get the 3 draw bend...i can bend the 2 draw full and half but the three seems to be eludeing me! any idea what im doing wrong?

  • I've got a lesson specifically focusing on the 3 draw bend at Modern Blues Harmonica (see "the store")

  • Hey man, do you ever play the whole, guitar and harmonica at the same time sorta thing? It would be great to see a lesson as detailed and insightful as these on the multitasking techniques

  • hi adam

  • bravo super merci de votre visite

  • ilove the little wildlife interludes takes the seriousnes out of the lesson and makes it fun

    adam its all good

    steve,cleveland england

  • Hi, Adam. My name is G from Korea. It was my first visit to your show and it was awesome!! Could you be a little more specific

on the 4th overblow? I find it pretty hard to do so. Anyways, keep up your good work. I will tell my buddy about you.(There are 2 professional blues harp players here in Korea, believe it or not)

    You rock!!

  • Visit overblow dot com, where you'll find a discussion of how to create overblows. I discuss how to create overblows in an earlier video.

  • Hey, man, great method!

Could you do/say something about the Big Walter's "sound"

    (like Annie Raines, in example)?

    Thanks, keep the good work.

  • Big Walter played fairly simple stuff brilliantly. His sense of time and swing were fantastic. Sometimes he hits bang! right on the downbeat; sometimes he anticipates (the early 50s stuff from Memphis). BW's "blue third" is the one I modeled my own after. ("Have a Good Time," w/Carey Bell)

  • Thanx Adam,

again a great Roshi teaching. Even for me as a rookie.

I wonder how all these Harp players produce such a fat

and nasty tone. Are there any tricks how to do this?

I started playing a few weeks ago, inspired by a song with Mark Ford called "Mellow down easy".

Keep this good thing going and a deep gassho (which means something like great respect in buddhist terms).

  • Hi Adam, thank you very much for your videos man, I'm a beginner learning a lot with them. Which book or resource do you recommend to learn blues music theory? I'm looking forward to see you in Europe!

  • See the very last item in my FAQ's at modernbluesharmonica dot com

  • Another great lesson. thanks Adam

Your portrait of Nat will be in your hands soon. MH

  • Hey Aam, thanks for the lesson. Five more days in the woodshed, in the Green Mountains of Vermont and I think I'll have the licks to your "Thunky Fing". With your permission, I even might consider posting my first video for your perusal. p.s. keep 'em coming

  • Yes! Bring it on.

  • Thanks again for the lesson.

  • Hey Adam...Looking forward to meeting you on my birthday at the Bean Blossom Blues Fest in a few months! I've got a "quick" question....what exactly are you doing with your tongue and throat starting at 3:20 to get the tongue-block-like sound? Thanks for the help!

  • Nothing with my throat. I uploaded two YT videos about tongue-blocking. Have you seen them? They're in the mid-50's, number-wise.

  • Are you doing the "Adam Gussow" tongue blocking alternative or honest-to-God tongue-on-the-wood tongue blocking? Again, thanks!

  • I'm putting my tongue on the wood.

  • entertaining yet deep, music theory is confusing sometimes
