There are some issues within the libertarian philosophy which are up for argument, one of which is abortion. I personally believe abortion violates the liberties of the baby to be born. I do feel that abortion is completely an issue of states rights. States decide their own criminal laws and this falls under that. A one-size fits all social policy was definitely not in the vision of our founding fathers, thats why they gave us a republic.

He held office from 76 to 85 in congress as a Republican.
He ran for Texas Senate, but lost out to Phil Gram in 1986.
the Libertarian party asked him to run for President on there Ticket in 1988.
After the "Contract for America", Ron Paul decided to run for Congress again in 1996 and has been re elected every 2 years sense.
He is an honorary lifetime member of the Libertarian Party, but does not consider himself a member of the party.

I'm nowhere near a Republican, but I'd vote for Jackie! I almost actually considered writing his name on my ballot in November out of dislike for the other candidates. Sure, the economy would still be in the toilet, but at least Jackie and Dunlap's press conferences would give us something to laugh about! That would be something to see!
