Roberto Vally - of their many bassists over the years, Roberto is probably least known. But... I agree, he is amazing. I've seen them live with Oscar Cartaya and Scott Ambush, but would love to hear Roberto live.
I bought all their albums when I was 13 years old... that was way back in 1986. My older brother, who was listening to them, got me to like them too. Loved their work. Every single one of them. Thanks for this video.
When I was a graduate student in Buffalo in 1976-77, a friend and I would go see Spyro Gyra at a local bar. I think called Jack Daniels. They were great! I'm wondering if anyone besides the sax player is in the original band?
These players are my favorite Spyro Gyra band. Gotta have Manolo on Latin Percussion and Samuels on Vibes. Along with Fernandez on Guitar, Stone on Bass, Morales on Drums, and original Spyro Gyra Schumann on keys and Beckenstein Sax.
I'm impressed on how the group has evolved yet they still have that Spyro Gyra sound.
These guys are one of my favorite fusion/jazz groups over of today. Of course the Jazz Crusaders, Return To Forever, Weather Report are all top notch.
Great song. I like earlier Spyro the best I think. Those synthesized drums used during the solo were a horrible product though. The only use I ever found for them was as a low floortom sound. I remember at the time being so afraid that they would do away with real drums eventually. LOL
Once in my lifetime, Spyro Gyra had ever “Live in Bangkok”...
