It`s a pitty that Hornby has stopped the production of life steam locos,I cannot understand, why, because many people, which I know, wants to buy such a wonderful model.May be,the promotion in Europe was not successful enough, because many of my friends never heard from life steam in 1:80 scale.
I have a problem my live steam bcame derailed but that was not the problem the problem is ,is that to put it back on I had to take it off the the tracks.I did put it in red light to restart it but it won't re start please reply i need big help thank you.
At which point in the start sequence does it not 'fail'? 1 cab red light comes on showing that the regulator is closed? 2 heats up and let off steam? 3 Do controller flicks open the regulator (you hear a whirring noise with each flick) 4 green light comes on? 5 Does it whistle? 6 15 or so flicks from red should start moving? 7 Have you tried giving it a push? 8 Does lots of steam escape from strange places? 9 Is power getting to track? 10 Tel Hornby 01843 233525 - service is superb
Sometimes one light doesn't work, very occasionally both don't work.
Try holding the regulator over for several seconds (before it heats up!), you will hear the little motor whirring away and the lights might come back as the regulator cycles round.
You can still operate it without the lights (unless the fault is elsewhere) once you understand how the regulator works.
Take the body off and watch and listen closely as you operate the regulator.
You're right but that's the fun of OO Live Steam. This video was my first time out with it - I wasn't experienced and the loco wasn't run-in. We're both much better now.
I got the spectators to fill in a questionnaire and despite the less than perfect running 90% said "Very Impressed" with Hornby Live Steam. 15% said they intended to buy one!
@OOLiveSteam just a little politely inputed info for you. Papyrus isn't an A4 she's an A3 like flying scottsman. The A4 are like Mallard, Silver link, Golden Fleece.
the whistle is crap

I would do that if I could but the red & green light do not want to light up when I put power to the track.

Very good! Hornby should use scenes from this vid for a commercial; they'd sell thousands of them!

@bikersupermoto I agree, it is rather jumpy.

Hornby should promote this more. Love the way it hisses, whistles and chuffs!
