I was at this race. I have a pic on my myspace of john force in the pits just before this crash. My whole family drags and i have seen lots of wrecks but this one scared me!
a year after this crash....same track...ashley and john ended up facing each other in eliminations....she went toward the center line just like kenny....pretty ironic.
That was NOT Don "The Snake"Pruhdomme in the other lane.Prudhomme has been retired from driving for over 10 years and is strictly a team owner. That was Kenny Bernstein driving the Monster Energy funny car that John Force ran into.
True, it was Nitro Funny Car, not Pro Stock. John Force had a rear tire failure resulting in the tire coming apart then tearing part of the carbon fiber body off the rear, releasing his parachutes which steered the car over into Don "The Snake" Prudhomme who was racing in the other lane. Thankfully both men are doing quite well today, 1 year later.
i watched it happen, scary man. rear axle assembly and roll cage came away from the motor and front chassis rails.john force was strapped in to his seat just bouncing and rolling down the track.leg injurys kept him out for the rest of the season i think.
Jesus. I had to watch this a few times to see that which makes it all the more frightening. The driver along with the whole rear end go out the back side of the car on the right. That must have been a hell of a ride.
On Sunday on the big screen at the track they played a angle of the race from the far end of the track camera once, just once hours after the incident, only after people at home already have viewed the video on television.
When it comes to the Texas Motorplex in my opinion if you want complete coverage DO NOT buy a ticket you are better off at home.
Individuals away from the track knew more than the spectators at the track.
