Lee Rocker from Stray Cats, btw drummer playing while standing up is Slim Jim Phantom also from Stray Cats. Why in the whole wide world isnt isnt Brian Setzer there too??????? Check my vids from Stray Cats Euro farewell tour.
the clowns at work had the hip hop station on full blast all day today, needed a six pack of old milwaukee and a couple hours worth of carl perkins to purify myself before bed.
@BHBrother87 fuck hip hop !! most kids nowdays are so fuckin brainwashed by the crap they see and believe on mtv and bet which is a racially motivated to begin with and all that other bullshit that they have no damn imagination or mind to think 4 themselves !! theres no damn originality anymore no individuality !! BE YOURSELF AND FUCK WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOIN U DONT HAVE TO FOLLOW THE CROWDS KIDS BE WHO U ARE NOT WHAT MTV TELLS U TO BE !!! AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST PULL UR GODAMN PANTS UP!
I'm so pissed... Just imagine when Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis die... basically that would be it for Rock 'n Roll... it's not that todays kids don't like the sound (I'm only 26 myself) but I can't remember a single Carl Perkins song ever played on the radio in my life
Sorry! I thought you were into music, not booze;-) And besides, most of us make our own booze: it's taxfree, tastes good and is guaranteed to make your eyeballs pop!
though sweden isn't too far, I actually never considered going there... probably because my swedish sucks (= non existant) and I don't know anybody with a good taste of Rockabilly and good moonshine, so I'm stuck to Abba and systemboloaget ;)
this guy is great, can't understand why i've never heard of him, never hear him on the radio. radio station execs need to get their asses kicked for missing this guy.
Wrong! Sorry, but you're just plain wrong! Carl was not Johnny's "sidekick" until the 60s when Johnny was trying to help Carl kick his drinking/pill problem. Carl arrived at Sun on his own, and recorded at Sun on his own-not as anyone's "sidekick".
Carl lived in Jackson, Tn. all his adult life. He was an every day person who never turned anyone away. He wan't prayed on by locals because he was just another "Jacksonian". He never got the credit he deserved and when he died we lost a part of our home town.
His son Stan is pretty close to Carl but not his father.
This man is so fantastic. It's ashame I came aboard late. Here was one of the Founding Fathers of Rock & Roll and I did not even know it. I'm in my 50s and should of known. At least I now recognize how truly great he was and how he helped influence musicians from all over the world, starting in the 50s to present day. Long live one of the Kings of Rock & Roll Carl Perkins...
LucanWolf1...because El was long dead to even put a hamburger into Carl's mouth, right? Comparisons like yours sound retarded. Besides, as much as rebellious Rockabilly may have been in 1955/56 for 5 seconds or so - today it's been taken seriously by the most conservative and reactionary backwoodish crowd there is! I've hung out with them to check it out, it's plain silly! It's like scientology without the big business!
This is a great performance. I must say, though, watching the DVD it seems to me that George Harrison stole the show (forget that I'm a diehard Beatles fan). And to think I was living a mile away at the time and knew nothing about this.
"Carl Perkins And Friends" is a DVD that I highly recommend. Fabulous jam session with Dave Edmonds, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Roseann Cash and a bunch of excellent musicians. I believe it was a Cinemax special. It's worth the ticket price just to see all these folks play together. Many of them are dead now sadly.
thanks for that one i taped it when it came on british tely but my vidio tape has since snapd so iam looking for it again where did you get it from its carl perkins 30th anaversary concert lee roker is on double base
Thanks for sharing this one, Carl is a living legend. You want to catch a good album, check out "Class of 55" Carl, jerry Lee, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.
I knew that he was gone, didn't realize the way I worded my comment made it sound like he was still with us. Amazing, indeed, when you consider how many other musicians he influenced. May Rockabilly live forever.
That definitely is Leon "Lee" Drucker, rocking that bass fiddle. Only Lee can do that. This video event was in February 1998 at a Carl Perkins tribute at the House of the Blues.
That's called "Carl Perkins and Friends", featuring Lee Rocker, Slim Jim Phantom, Roxanne Cash, Dave Edmunds, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and some old Sun Records staff.

Why don't you come to Sweden? In some regions of this country, rock'n'roll has never died (and probably never will!).
