For anyone wondering "But can this research save lives, and how soon?":
Google "Umbilical Cord Stem Cells Save Womans Life"; it's on Faux... but the story is still apt. We are ALREADY SAVING LIVES with these techniques.
But "What about where we get them from?" you say? Google "stem cells from skin cells". Yes, the cell we know probably the most about and can grow very easily can now be used to give us stem cells to be used for everything else in the entire body.
Don't kill the holy grail. =/
