while I was searching for my OWN name - decentman4you + Akihabara - on google - I came accross this video, so i am just wondering why the search engine brought me here....
@anditslikethat - Of course you can, the big difference at TurboSonic Tokyo is that these classic models are often in "as new" condition !! Even units from the early 1970`s !!!!
@blzbug242 How do you figure? Where do you live? I live in America, where these things originated. I collect these things. People are selling them all the time. You just have to keep an eye open for estate sales, garage sales, and things like that.
@anditslikethat God I wish I could find any of these... the only one I've found at a garage sale is a Pioneer DX-700 and that was almost 10 years ago!
I did find a descent Sony at a flea market but the dude said "That's my baby, not for sale!" c-mon!!!!!
@blzbug242 You need to go to a bigger city, you will find them at swap meets, estate sales, recycle depots. Either that or just do it the easy way and buy them off Ebay, but be willing to pay $100 to 1,000.
@anditslikethat and how clue-less are they - most clueless about what ? your favorite subject in the bay areas there I guess in California :-) gee just what do they do there ... :)
How much is one of them silver boom boxes? Gots to get some proper sound for when I get down with my homies in the Krefeld Unterführung to reminisce about them times.
@ImperialPimp hey ive got a sears model 2102 in the box never opened never used circa 1984, of course i plugged it in and everything worked perfectly, the most amazing part is not a single scratch, no rub marks on the edges, NO DUST and even the tape plays perfectly, how much is THAT worth not to mention the box is in good condition. probably a proper good amount of money though it is on the small end of boomboxes
the editing and glitch-pop make this a difficult video to watch... but the store looks cool... any chance of getting a less nauseous edit so i can actually make things out without going into an epileptic fit??
do they sell these vintage boomboxes? im planning on going to japan and i think a vintage boombox would make a better souvenir than a pair of japanese teenagers used panties from a vending machine.
I was just in Turbo Sonic! The girl was only in the store, and she told me about her collection of 1000 boomboxes in mint condition. She showed me some photos. I was in heaven!
That's the owner's wife she is really nice... If you are still in Tokyo make sure you try and check out one of their shows!! (Where Mr. TurboSonic DJ's at).
Check Wikipedia "Boombox" for a picture of their soundsystem !

I think prices run from $500 to $3,000 , depending on the model. Some are very rare in good condition, these cost more...
