I love Mariah, always have, and always will. She is my number one idol! I'm a complete and total lamb. I do like some of Christina's songs but I wouldn't consider myself a fan, sometimes I like her, and most of the time I don't. Lol at "Christina is a pretty good whistler too"! More than 90% of Christina's whistles are either weak, flat, or both. You can barely call her a whistler since those notes are in falsetto, and she can only hit them, and not sing phrases in them like Mariah can.

Mariah her whistles are way to breathy if you ask me. I love the clear pure whistles. Like Christina does in some of her songs. But I gotta say I'm not a big fan of whistling, it hurts my ears and it doesn't really seem like a talent to me. Someone who's a very bad singer, could still be able to hit some amazing wistle notes. Christina has got an amazing powerful voice, that's what I like so much about her. I can't imagine another singer, singing mercy on me or fighter.

If you listened closely to Mariah's music, you'll see that not very many of her whistles are airy. She can change the texture of them so easily and not many people who can sing in that register can do that.

Christina abuses her voice by straining to hit those notes. Nearly everytime she does one live, they're weak and out of tune. They're almost never effortless and they lack purpose in her songs. The same cannot be said about Mariah.

I agree. Mariah and Christina are the vocal pop princesses. Music is their passion and not using their real voices. Mariah used it to escape racism and Christina used it to escape domestic abuse. Mariah is better than Christina on the technical sense. But Christina is better than mariah in the traditional sense where showing the most emotions, power and oversinging was really important, you know back in the 30-70s. To me, they are equal. We all know that Christina is a huge ass fan of Mariah.

I get you. However, I think that Christina feels the songs more. She actually cries in some performances and some times in studio. Aside from facial expression, Christina's voice is more poignant and keeps her music within the boundaries of her personal life and soul, which makes it more believable. Aside from that, she sings blues/jazz half the time, so she shows a genuine interest in old feel good blues music.
