Man City is coming up, they have big investers and are moving forwards (though I don't see them being one of the 4 english CL clubs...), and they have a much larger budget than HSV. Kompany was HSV's largest transfer; city has just bought Jô for 21mil, and then they still had enough to enter the race for Ronaldinho! City is definitely bigger. Plus any player would rather play in England than in Germany.

Right. I'm from Belgium (and an Anderlecht supporter), I've watched him play for hours and hours since he was 17, and Kompany is an outstanding player.
At 18 he was explicitly linked with Chelsea, Milan, Barca, Liverpool, Man United, Inter, all the big boys. He was even selected (age 18!) to play in the tsunami benefit match as the only unproven player on a star packed pitch.

are u stupid, MAN city use 2 be not very good, but i still supported em, then Thaksin Shinawatra came into things. He gave us money, and NOW, now mancity are big. our stadium holds nearly 50,000, and we nearly brought ronaldinho for 50 million/one of the biggest wages in the Premier league.

Hamburg to Manchester is a big step down, you must not know your football so well. Sv are a much much bigger club than Manchester city, you are the 2nd team in your place much like St Pauli in my town. Sv average 55,000 last season, I cannot find ant=y reference to your crowd but I am thinking probably 25,000? Maybe 30,000 maximum, much much smaller than the rothosen

Germany has big stadiums relative to other countries, regardless of the quality of the club. Man City is coming up, they have big investers and are moving forwards (though I don't see them being one of the 4 english CL clubs...), and they have a much larger budget than HSV. Kompany was HSV's largest transfer; city has just bought Jô for 21mil, and then they still had enough to enter the race for Ronaldinho! City is definitely bigger. Plus any player would rather play in England than in Germany.

Whatever, 21mil is 21mil no matter how long it takes to pay up. HSV's largest transfer is Kompany's 8mil. You'd have to agree that that is a huge difference. And if you look at HSV's squad and City's squad (especially now that Vd Vaart has moved to madrid), there's a substantial difference in quality.
That's all I'm saying. City is a better club than HSV, and more importantly: the premier league is WAY better than the bundesliga.

All critics from Hamburg-recently-fans are based on the critics from german media. "The players leave their clubs to play for their countries, but their countries don't pay them the Money in general wages" This is a common opinion between German clubs. If they have a contract for 4-5 years,they belong to them,like a machine wich is rent for this time...sad,sad,sad.

Right. I'm from Belgium (and an Anderlecht supporter), I've watched him play for hours and hours since he was 17, and Kompany is an outstanding player.
At 18 he was explicitly linked with Chelsea, Milan, Barca, Liverpool, Man United, Inter, all the big boys. He was even selected (age 18!) to play in the tsunami benefit match as the only unproven player on a star packed pitch.
All Man City fans can be sure that this is an amazing signing for them, especially with it only costing 8,5mil euros.

Last year we were beaten in the 1/8 final by bayern munich, but this year we screwed up bigtime in the champions league qualifiers. So no european football for Anderlecht.
I wish City all the best, they're definitely a club on the rise. I'm excited to see the club's further progress.

He may have had a dip in form but personally i think hes a quality player. What a signing, cant wait to see him in action. He clearly has the ability, both from what we can see and winning the Belgian ebony shoe two years running (04/05). Mark Hughes will get his full potential out of him.

1990 we had 39,000 average but 91 and 92 we had 43 and 45 average respectively. 93 the Stretford end came down so capacity was reduced to 35000 so your facts are pretty much incorrect. Sure enough crowds were not what they are now but hey guess what? We still had the best attendances with those crowds. Seeing as you asked about those years youmight like to tell me why your crowds for those very same years were 27,000 ish until 93 when it dropped to 24,000 when your capacity was 33,000.

Have a look around you and see what kits you see bertie. Oh yeah thats right I forgot we wear the kits but none of us go to the games.I honestly know of two city fans in and around Moston, I don't know any in the areas I drink ie Ancoats and Miles Platting. City are in Hollinwood and Stockport, nothing in the inner city. Your club offers seats for a tenner and a quid for kids and you still only get 17,000 for your crucial european game. Kompany must have fuck all ambition to sign for you
