I don't want to take away the brilliance of Obama or the importance of his election to the presidency, but it seems that America is patting itself on the back too early. People should remember that what happened on November 4th wasn't about Barack Obama. He wasn't the miracle. The miracle of that night was that America was finally able to look past color and make its choice.

President Obama is human, he'll do some good things and he'll fuck up and make mistakes and disappoint people too. Most of the people who were crying were crying because of the significance of the moment and what it said about this country's power to tolerate, not for the guy they elected.

Uh, TARP and the bailouts for the banking sector aren't even grants, they're federal loans on interest. Goldman Sachs is already preparing to pay their back. Its money extended from the taxpayers, yes, but taxpayers aren't paying it down.

There's really no alternative, we can stimulate the economy now which is what most leading economists agree is the right thing to do or just let it continue to crumble and do nothing at all.
