I've also never heard of a Mexican saying such either. America is in our countries title and had been used as an identifier for a long time [even the UN uses it and much of the world in identifying those in the USA]. I've read up on the issues S. America and a few others have with it; the majority still identify it with our countries name.

I love the game no matter what it's called, but I hate how some people can't accept that it's not called football everywhere. And American football is not a pussy version of rugby. The hits are way harder and more frequent in a football game (American football) than in any rugby game, mainly because of the extra padding. Getting hit by someone wearing shoulder pads and a helmet hurts a hell of a lot worse than getting hit by someone not wearing either.
