  • If Elvis Costello had done this song we'd all still be talking and raving about it - like "Boys Cry" an almost perfect pop song that deserves to be more widely heard and remembered

  • and what about their cover of Reflections on their first LP ? Huge.

  • Used to see them at the Marquee all the time. The album didn't really capture how good they were as a live band.

TFSmudge, the reason the vocals were so good is because Steve Allen was a really experienced singer. He used to be known as Enrico Cadillac(!) when he was the singer for the band Deaf School. He had a very Bryan Ferry-ish image at the time.

  • Do you know where I can buy the CD? Or if you know a website where I can download it. I LOVE THIS BAND! I've been looking for it for ever.

    Thanks

  • will someone get on the case with the rest of the album....... saw them 79 supporting joe jackson`s first tour....

    new wave or what

  • EXCELENTE CANCION, ES AGRADABLE SABER QUE HAY QUIEN SE ACUERDE DE ESTA GRANDIOSA BANDA.

    LARGA VIDA A LOS 80´S

Excellent song, it´s nice to know some one else remember this great band.

    Long Live 80´s

  • Bristol Poly SU 1978-dynamite-a fantastic live act that never got where it deserved.

  • one of the best

  • I saw them at YMCA, London, April and June 1980... Still the best thing from the 80s in my opinion. I read somewhere that Broudie never liked his Original Mirrors period and that's why they died early. They could have been so massive, Lightning Seeds are nothing in comparison. So they remain the best ever band not to get anywhere!!! I have the album in the loft and plan to get some tracks up here soon as soon as I figure how to... My fave: 'Panic In The Night' mega vocal....

  • Oh I didn't know that tfSmudgem Ian Broudie sounds so great on the end of this ..that section is such a strong sound and style I'm really sorry of he didn't know that! Ans a lot of passion. The singers first band deaf School have been playing again, I read it and Ian Broudie is on guitar so maybe a chance for Mirrors too???

  • I saw them live at Middlesbrough Rock Garden in 1980 and they didn't sound much different to lots of similar New Wave bands of the time. The bass player Phil Spalding was good to watch live for his peculiar face impressions. He later enjoyed success as part of Toyah Wilcox's band.

  • Yep I was there too that night couldnt have been anymore than 30 people in there!!!

  • Possibly the most exciting band to hit the London scene. Saw them twice and the 2nd time the whole Goth scene seemed to be present and if you weren't pogoing, you got trampled! Two albums only. What a waste. I felt they were destined for Fame and Fortune.

  • Thanks for your comments Esperantoid, it´s great to hear somebody else think like me, I like this ´80 kind of music, Wishbone ash, Patty Smith, Talking Heads, Generation X, if somebody have more songs please up to youtube,

  • looking forward to "Boys" and "Reflections" to be posted.....Outstanding

  • please can we have the whole album ?

    its outstanding !

    easy...

  • So do I... I still have the vinyle record but I can't play it ! I really loved that band when I was 18.

  • I love this song, New Wave 80´s music. somebody have more about Original Mirrors?.

I think U2 is a bad copy of Original Mirrors, check the sound.

  • Yeah wow your right....this is just before U2..the guitarist is Ian Broudie of Lightning Seeds and he did have that sound before Edge for sure....wow amazing to hear this..that middle bit of talking sounds so U2 as well...the sound everything

  • great tune, I used to have the elpee
