Colonialism isn't possible because of Europe's unfavorable demographics. The Bosnian War is a good indication of what will happen. So is Darfur. Observing several Third World or failed states is very helpful for understanding what socities with scarce natural resources (including fossil fuel energy use) are like. The people in these countries live closer to the carrying capacity of the land they inhabit, if foreign aid and scarce fossil fuel use is excluded.
