  • Thank you, come again ha

  • really nice box btw, great work

  • 1:53 xbox tree60

  • one, two, tree and xbox tree600

  • Get ya words out stubble bum

  • why do u talk so

    much?

  • I wanna pop baloons from lil kid with it from a far

  • must i use a driver, or something easier would work just fine?

can i also use the whole dvd drive head with its optics instead of using AiXiz things?

  • @app0the Yes you need a driver as laser diodes are very very sensitive. Yes you'll need the AixiZ module else you wouldn't be able to focus the laser.

  • @happyguy82 thanks. gotta go buy goggles too :P

'cause there is never enough safety

  • @app0the yeah if you can afford a pair of goggles and intend to take this up as a hobby, it'll be a good investment.

  • @happyguy82 Or you could build daedal circuit instead of using driver :)

  • are you from singapore?

  • are you Wasabi Lee????

  • i need that! lol

  • Hi happyguy82, where would I put an led indacator?

  • FUCK! I just got a burning diode and I soldered it to my Aixiz driver and I was screwing it into it's case and the leads on the diode broke! If I was a lot younger I would probably be crying but I'm through with that.

  • @simmcowaPang122 sorry to hear that mate. did you test it out before screwing it back into the case?

  • Comment removed

  • I want to know where you got that case from or how i could find something even remotely close to it.... What do they call that?

  • @jeffsi0225 I got it from Maplin UK. just use any plastic project case of a similar size as that would do.

  • u need to lern bether englich

  • i took apart my HP pavillion 9000 laptop, the dvd burner didn't have a diode haha. now i have to order an actual desktop dvd burner and tear it apart. this is BULLSHIT! haha

  • @FlawlessVizionz08 I'm not sure how much the dvd burner costs that you bought but it's surely more then the 10 dollar diode which can easily be bought online.

  • happyguy you sound nervous guy

  • how i can focus? i have just diode from dvd burner :/

  • @showtimeoooo That's what the AixiZ module is for. You mount the diode in it and it has a lens that focuses by turning the ring :).

  • @happyguy82 and if I dont have it can i still burn?

  • @showtimeoooo no. in order to burn, the beam needs to be focused tightly at a small spot.

  • @happyguy82 can i use that thing from regular laser? focus part? sorry for my english :)

  • @showtimeoooo not sure. I'm not aware of regular lasers having focus rings.

  • @showtimeoooo just use a magnifing glass

  • damn you only speak :' )

  • The orange cap? Errmm I can't remember but they are not uncommon. When you search for the aixiz module and lens most of the sites would carry it too.

  • I like your box i may order some myself... Where do you get the cap from? thanks

  • hi, i am getting the same laser diode as you i am getting a driver as well and 2 cr2 batteries which means i get 6v. How much voltage and amps do i need to pass to the LPC 815 laser diode? On the driver i know that you have to turn a screw depending on how much power you want, how do you know how much you need or do you use a volt meter? Please respond quickly thankssss

  • @TheSuperhack3r ok it's not as easy as that. before you connect anything to the diode, I suggest you join a forum like laser pointer forums and search for that diode model, see what ppl suggest, etc. etc.

you'll also need to build a dummy load circuit to measure your driver's output. you can't just measure it with a multimeter directly.

also, there are procedures for connecting your diode e.g. you'll need to discharge the output capacitor on your driver first.

it's not that easy. read up.

  • japan

  • oh man, why does this have to be so complicated.

  • @Stallnig Because laser diodes are very very sensitive devices :(

  • @happyguy82 just wondering but iv done this before and i think i messed up my driver. How do you know which side to hook up to the diode?

  • I mean, what parts do I need to make it work? I have the Diode, a switch, and I am able to buy some batteries at least. the onely thing I don't know is with what Voltage and Ampere the Diode works. If you could give me a hint I could probabely work out the rest my self.

  • @Stallnig It depends on your diode. Different diodes require different amounts of Voltage and Amps. The amount will be very precise, and it's not possible to control that using resistors and batteries alone. You'll need a power supply driver board, like rkcstr's Micro-Drive.

  • Hi, I have a Laser Diode from my dead X-Box (Drive-Model Nr. VAD6038)

Can somebody tell me with which an how many Batteries (AA if Possible) and what resistors I can make it work as a (burning) Pointer.

Hoping for some good answers. Thx

  • @Stallnig not possible to do that. Laser diodes are very very precise devices thus you'll need a Driver circuit.

  • what is the driver for?, please answer!

  • @explosiv95 to supply power to the laser diode. you can't power the diode directly from the batteries because laser diodes are very very sensitive devices and the output voltage/amperage must be very precise. the driver allows you to set this. it's like a voltage regulator.

  • Very nice u done a good job. Do u have a resistor or something that stops the battery spikes from happening

  • @zakyman123 Thanks. The driver circuit has an output capacitor that buffers the spikes. On top of that I have a LASORB device installed now. The LASORB absorbs ESD and surge spikes and is incredibly effective. It's the best solution on the market for protecting laser diodes.

  • @happyguy82 What does this Lasorb-thing cost? And wher can I buy it?

  • @Stallnig it's made by a company called Pangolin. search for them online.

  • This would make a much improved laser communicator than the common cheap red lasers (about 50 to 100 yds range), who knows maby 1 mile range as long and safety precautions are met.

  • bist du deutsch? hörst dich so an

  • what Aixiz housing is it ?

  • @503jacko errr I think there's only 1 type of AixiZ housing although I could be wrong...

  • thanks bro great video! keep the good work up.

  • Use a tripod. It will make it easier to demonstrate and you wont shake :)

  • ok cool thanks.

  • You could power your laser using 3x or more 9v batteries in paralel insted of using thouse expensive ones. Try to put a contact heat sink to prevent overheat.

  • yea but these batteries are really cheap if you know where to get them. I think I paid only £1.50 each for them.

  • I don´t know where to get them :)

I think you could use just a potenciometer, resistor and cap as a driver..

  • no you can't use a pot, resistor and cap as a driver because if you do, the output voltage would vary based on the input voltage. as the input voltage gets higher so will the output. i.e. it doesn't 'fix' the output current for you.

  • it´s not very good to run it at 386 mA without a heatsink..

  • Very cool, I love your videos, keep building!

  • скучно ППЦ... он хоть работает?

  • Hi guys, I'll admit that this is a horrible video and I'll create another one soon. In the meantime this is made available to those who require the information contained within.
