  • God bless the brotherless nations, the diaspora nations, which are the only ones

who can appreciate the beauty of earth in all its every longitude and lattitude, can make land every piece of dirt and brother every living being.

  • THIS IS THE SONG:

Psalm 147: 12. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

    13. For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.

Tehillim 147: 12. Shabechi Yerushalaim et Adonai, halleli Elohaich Tsion. 13. Ki chizak berichei shearaich, berach banaich bekirbech.

    Long live Palestine

    Long live freedom

  • you will find that the peoples under Ottoman hegemony had similar habits (music, food, etc) through osmosis due to being with each other. They shared a narrative that the non-occupied European cultures have not experienced in their national psyches.

There were tens of thousands of Greek Jews (more than 85% horrifically perished in the Nazi deathcamps) and the majority of the survivors migrated to Palestine; they brought with them their habits.

Long live a united Palestine for Jews and Arabs!

  • @ARYANSES

We have very similar cultures, and therefore the music accordingly. All the music of the Mediterranean is very similar .. We all want peace but not always possible, have a genuine desire on both sides

  • aman aman ta rouleman hahaha!!!

  • yes, Persian, Indian and Greek music is the most ancient. Jewish music is ancient too, but was mostly vocal because of last distraction of Great Temple by Romans.

Turkish music derived a lot from Gypsy, Balkan, Greek, music of Turk tribes (yes, from central Asia) and Persia. Ottoman Empire was quite long in existence, but even "makam" (taksim) is much older originating in Persia and India. Instruments are too, only "saz" (or baglamah and "divan") are original turkish instrument.

  • H Glykeria - apithanh opws panta! Fwnara ....

Always loved her - awesome voice!

  • The main roots of your music lies in the Ottoman music. You speak of the Byzantine Emp. and the influences of other music but forget the continental size of the Ottoman Emp. and this more than 700 years. The most instruments what you nation you use today is mostly of turkish asian origin. Get in touch with a greek music prof who will explain you thoroughly the influences of Ottoman music in yours. Even your dances and instruments still use turkish names.

  • @ maclof777...and Palestine! They are also humans....

  • Not only is Γλυκερίας an accomplished artist, she possesses as well the wonderful talent to express the inner meaning of every single syllable she sings with the most perfect and lovable Hebrew accent.

The poet who wrote the lyrics (King David) would have immediately fallen in love with Γλυκερίας. So did I. Σας ευχαριστούμε Γλυκερίας. Μια από τη μούσα της Ελλάδας

  • Wow! This an ancient Hebrew prayer that tells the People of Jerusalem to Praise the Lord.

    Praise, Jerusalem, the Lord

    " "

    Bless the children amongst you.

  • God will bless those who bless Israel! It's written in The Bible. Greeks, let us bless and stand for Israel in order for our native country Greece to be blessed and be prosperous!!! Jewish people gave us Jesus, our saviour and Lord. If we say we believe and love Jesus, we should also love His people. I believe it's time for us to repent and ask God to forgive us for our sins & for being against Israel and supporting suicide bombers. The God, we believe, gave Israel to the Jewish people!

  • @makis277 Jesus is not the son of G-d. He is not the Messiah and never will be. Get over it.

  • @rudabeh Dear rudabeh, I was jew, but I read the Isaie 53, and after mounths of praying, God gave me the answer that Yeshua IS THE MESSIAH. all was announced by prophets from the old testament, but it's so difficult to see when you prefer stay blind, because of traditions.

  • @Alkresh very true my brother!

  • @makis277 Dear Maki, if God forgave and forgot, who are you and me to condemn Jewish people??? Remember what Jesus said when He was hanging on the cross, Father forgive them for they do not know what they do!!! Now, let me ask you: Do you think Jesus could not have saved Himself??? For this reason He came to earth to die willingly on the cross for you and me! The Father made Jesus SIN for YOU and ME, He took YOUR SINS and MINE on the cross! In other words YOU and ME crucified Jesus!

  • great video and god bless israel and ou idf amen.

  • Merci!

  • @turgaysari,

it's true the composition is from Ottoman Turkey. A very famous song of us sephardic mostly Ottoman jews.

We jews should not forget from where we brought our classic oriental music culture it is mostly from the Ottomans where we escaped from christian europe. History can't be erased. The turks was never our enemies.

  • The lyrics are from the book of books - Psalm 147 - Line 12 - ספר ספרים - מזמור 147 - קו.

and the melody is from Sadi Efren Bey - 1847 - Istanbul

  • And where did the Ottomans get their music? may I ask you!

    Not from mongolia!

  • @JimmyTheGreek2000 , surely not from the greeks! Read a book my dear. Who told you the turks are mongols maybe the greeks.

  • gbastile

Well the ones originating from Mongolia only know how to beat on drum, just one music note, and no more!

  • Gbastile,

And why not from the Greeks? The word music is Greek, so are the names of the nine Muses, The maids of music. Th oldest music notes are written in Stone and in GREEK !

  • @JimmyTheGreek2000,

I love greek music especially the voices of Glykeria, Alexiou, Xatzigiannis and Arvanitaki There a lot of singers from Greece who are amazing. But you forget one, you use a system of melody types called "Makam" wich is from the Ottoman Turkish classical music. Your music is a also branch of this system! That's the reason why the greek and turkish songs are usually equal.

  • Gbastile, I could very well called 'Makam' in Turkish, But it is not of Turkish origin.

The music notes and all the music instruments were present in the Byzantine empire, even the Buzouk (Bouzouki) under other names. There are many Persian (Iran) and Arabic (Egypt) and Indian infuences in Greek music which are present and which are claimed to be Turkish .... but are not.
