Seriously, I completely agree about semis. Next thing you know, the frame will be aluminum. They make the hoods out of fiberglass and everything else out of plastic and aluminum. That is way too much damage to the semi for being hit by a pickup. They're trying to save too much weight. I've seen semis that can pull 500,000 lbs. and they certainly didn't do it with plastic or aluminum. For the amount of weight that truck can pull, it shouldn't sustain that much damage.

This was accomplished by a STOCK Mack truck in Australia pulling 113 trailers. So 500,000 lbs. is nothing for a severe/extreme duty semi. I've seen it done. The legal load limit in the US is 80,000 lbs. so most semis you see on the road aren't designed for 500,000 lb. loads. They have a lot of aluminum, plastic and fiberglass parts to save weight and use less fuel.
113 trailers on a road is not any different than an single, it has to do with bridge length. The accident happen in the USA, therefore that is the topic at hand and I doubt you drive for a living, most likely you're just repeating what you are told or have seen on TV and that would account for your lack of knowledge on bridge length.

If you wanted to buy a semi, you have a lot of options. The have light, medium, heavy, and severe/extreme duty parts. You could get a frame made of steel that is 4 times thicker than standard. Some companies even offer up to 18 liter engines with 10 wheel drive. You can also upgrade most parts to steel and add axles. With an 18-speed transmission, the amount of torque produced at the axles can be well over 100,000 ft-lbs. So I know what I'm talking about.

not a chance they will blame the trucker, it's clear the pick up truck crossed the the center median and hitting the semi, high way patrols take these cases very seriouly and investigates every single detail of the accident.

And I just run fairly local.. im makin right at $23.50 an hour... i havent got any complaints yet and I have been doing this for the last 3 years now and love it!!
Thats a fedex ground truck stupid. How can you call them scabs? Their contractors running packages, not freight. Starting pay is close to $20.00 hr. for drivers plus great benefits, hardly chump change. Also, it wasn't the fedex drivers fault. all semis have fiberglass outter bodies from hood to cab that shatter on impact. its the solid steel chassis you worry about in a head on accident plus the cast iron engine block helping to take some of the impact. i work at a freighter airport, we get lots of semis docking at our buildings. 1 of our yard dog drivers backed a trailer down the side of a kenworth tearing the front side hood body off the truck effortlessly. the yard dog driver didn't realise what he had done at first.

Yeah, i do.. as a lease driver for an Owner operator that has 6 trucks leassed onto Fed Ex Critical... I go back n forth from Van Buren,Arkansas to Little Rock Arkansas 2xs a night... the catch is, i only work 4 days outta the week.. Monday-tuesday... Friday-saturday... My friend takes the truck when im home, so it works out pretty good..

Starting pay is close to $20.00 hr. for drivers plus great benefits, hardly chump change. Also, it wasn't the fedex drivers fault. @swanson6132 Yes, semi drivers do speed and cut off cars on the highways. But where do you get your info from when it comes to the language "most of them" speak? I live near a FedEx warehouse and I have yet to meet a driver who doesn't speak english, and what would the language they speak have to do with the accident itself? Sounds like someone is jealous that they are not a FedEx driver.

all semis have fiberglass outter bodies from hood to cab that shatter on impact. its the solid steel chassis you worry about in a head on accident plus the cast iron engine block helping to take some of the impact. i work at a freighter airport, we get lots of semis docking at our buildings. 1 of our yard dog drivers backed a trailer down the side of a kenworth tearing the front side hood body off the truck effortlessly. the yard dog driver didn't realise what he had done at first.

Yeah, i do.. as a lease driver for an Owner operator that has 6 trucks leassed onto Fed Ex Critical... I go back n forth from Van Buren,Arkansas to Little Rock Arkansas 2xs a night... the catch is, i only work 4 days outta the week.. Monday-tuesday... Friday-saturday... My friend takes the truck when im home, so it works out pretty good..

That is a Ford Pickup. 1:35 you can tell it is an extended cab Ford, not a quad cab Dodge. Plus the 4x4 stick at the back of the bed is Ford design.
